Spoiler! 13 Hours in Benghazi - 2/10, typical 'merican recruitment propaganda film that has even more lens flare than bullets. joy - 8/10, actually really enjoyed this. |
The Invitation (via Netflix) Solid 8/10 Good thriller....builds up the tension pretty well. Fucks with you right until the end. |

To stay relavant: Sabotage 3/10 - Didn't give it a zero as it had some decent gore/violent scenes. ....but fuck Arnold, what's the deal? You got hella divorce debt so you gotta do these shit B-movies? He's on his way to Bruce Willis and then Nic Cage  |

The Invitation (as per R. Mutts recommendation) was okay 6/10 definitely not bad for netflix (daario from got is in it too) Pay the Ghost Nick Cage horror film, typical stv/maybe theatrical run horror, not bad also 6/10 (walking dead chick is in it too carls mom) |
Midnight Special 8/10 Moved slow at times, but kept me interested. Had no idea what it was about going in, so that probably helped. |
Batman vs Superman: 7/10. Not as terrible as expected. |
Batman vs Superman: 5/10 - Lux was kinda bad playing the joker...or he wasn't? |
The Purge Anarchy: 7/10 A little better than the first one. |
superman vs batman 6/10 finding dory 7/10 |
Ghostbusters (2016) 4/10 Decided on a whim to go see this, and it was awful. For a summer comedy action flick it misses a lot of its beats and takes forever to ramp up. I'm incredibly surprised the movie seems to be catering more towards kids, yet seems like one of the talkiest, dialogue heavy Ghostbusters released. It wouldn't be a problem if it had great jokes, but the dialogue falls flat and every shot seems to be framed and blocked the same. Every decent gag or scene is already in the trailers. Leslie Jones is great, Kristen Wiig is OK, and Kate McKinnon has some good moments. Chris Hemsworth is quite funny and Charles Dance in his small role is always fantastic. The cameos of the original movie actors (not a spoiler, they've been promoting their cameos on talk shows) all feel forced, lifeless, and unnecessary. Really my biggest problems with it are the script (particularly the pacing and long gaps of plot movement), unimaginative and humourless dialogue, the cinematography of long talky scenes, and the jarring intersplicing of unrelated cameos. At my half full theater showing at metrotown several people walked out in the first hour. |
X-Men Apocalypse 7/10 It was a good watch. Quicksilver stole the show. |
Cold War 2 at Silvercity Riverport 8/10 |
The Shallows 8/10 I LOVE shark movies I like Blake Lively. She's not crazy perfect pretty in her looks, which is why I find her attractive. Good summer movie. Last 1/4 of the movie is kinda crazy, but I turned my brain off Doesn't try to be super deep, and doesn't lag with useless scenes Seems like no one else on RS saw this movie unfortunately, I was looking for other reviews. |
Central Intelligence: 8/10 holy fuck, zero expectations, and it was hilarious. Yeah the story sometimes doesn't make any sense but great acting by the Rock. The therapy session part was hilarious as fuck. There were some outtakes at the end which was funny. turned my mind off and it was legit. |
Keanu 8/10. Fun movie, pacing was a bit off with long scenes that kinda dragged but pretty minor. |
Fastball 9/10 Baseball documentary on Netflix about the fastball pitch, and players who threw it the fastest. Great interviews with legends and modern players. Really well rounded with lots of great character stories. |
X-Men: Apocalypse wasn't that bad. typical movie 8/10. 《選老頂》(The Mobfathers) I was looking forward to this movie. Great cast, and they insisted on not PG-13 because they kept saying triad movies should always have foul languages which i thought was fair. The premise was good, a few sexy girls, the script had potential but the ending epic failed. *oh, even in Cold War 2, they had CGI for big explosions. In a way, i can see it being OK. Esp. they aren't going to blow up IFC in HK for example, but when you do CGI for blood scenes then I get super disappointed. 300 did it well, classy and even that was 10 + yrs ago. Why did they have to CGI blood and glory scenes? 8/10 but -1 for ending -1 for CGI blood 6/10 |
star trek beyond 5/10 Some funny moments, but too many plot holes, pacing was all over the place, and very little character development. |
The Boss: 7/10 |
The Secret Life of Pets: 8/10 First movie I've seen at the new Cineplex on Marine and Cambie. Plenty of seats, even on Tuesday. The animation is really cute. Wasn't nearly as sad as Finding Dory. |
Might have been posted before but this is the first time I've seen it. It's a horror short so watch at your own discretion. |
Jason Bourne: 6/10 Pretty much the entire movie is shaky cam, made it hard to watch - especially the fight scenes. Typical Bourne movie: figuring out his past, fighting cops, fighting CIA agents, fighting assassin, car chases and girl sidekick. Julia Stiles is really bad at acting lol. |
