Source Code (2011) 9/10

I'm shocked I never figured to watch this sooner. Excellent sci-fi/time travel thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Lots of suspense with a slowly revealed secret plot. It shares a lot of similarities to Deja Vu (2007) with Denzel Washington, but Source Code has more mystery and intrigue. Has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.

If you like that, you'd like Moon by the same director. Slow to start but mind blown at the end.

Startrek Beyond

Eh..... it's ok I guess 7/10. The franchise isn't so much more about discovery anymore. It's about trolling the federation as much as possible now and Captain Kirk gotta squash some scumbags.

^^ Yup ZN6 is right, Moon is interesting. A very small production film and it was interesting at the end. Again, must be interested in sci-fi type movies

Civil War: 6/10

That sure was a comic book action movie. I think I forgot 90% of it 5 minutes after it was over. It was fine during the time I was watching though.

The Revenant 8.5/10 - Beautifully shot, amazing scenery, Leo was great. What he went through was almost unbelievable. Gripping for life the entire time. Very intense, very visceral. Took away points as I thought Tom Hardy was annoying and wasn't a good casting choice. Still though, amazing movie and worth the watch.

It was more comedic than I expected, in a good way.

I thought Hardy was a home run, different strokes for different folks I guess.

The Revenant - 8/10

I thought it was good. Story was simple, the scenery was amazing indeed. Lol told my wife to google "eyebrow kid from Maze Runner" cus that's how i knew one of the characters as

didn't like the random chanting in Pawnee by his wife...didn't like Tom Hardy as the villain either, he was pretty one-dimensional in that role imo

Train To Busan 9/10
People kept on talking about how the human character and how personalities were shown in the movie. Great emotional ride as per reviews and critics and thought it was very decent watch and nothing was done that was over the top. Had a great time 9/10

Kubo and the Two Strings

7/10

First 2/3 of the movie was excellent and very strong
Last 1/3 was weaker in pacing and kept jumping around

I would have liked an additional 5-10 minutes to flesh out more of the character relationships; that would have really made the movie excellent instead of good

So I watched this based on your post and was hoping for a mind fuck. Totally not the case.

Acting was good and I appreciate deep movies, but I just couldn't understand what's going on.

I left feeling "wtf is going on with the movie" and not sure what I've just watched because it was really confusing at the end. I had to read a few blogs to decipher it and ended up watching a youtube explanation to fully understand what was going on.

Acting was 8.5/10. The story at the end was really confusing making it very extremely difficult to rate so I'm not even going to rate it.
