Go watch Seven Samurai. Of course one is a goofy 2016 western action flick remake, and the other is a true masterpiece. But Magnificent Seven was originally a western remake of Seven Samurai, so maybe it's not totally unfair to compare the two. I haven't seen the original western
Or just watch the original magnificent seven with Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, etc

I didn't think the new one was that bad though, but it could have been immensely better

Why Him 3/10

Few laughs had but could not wait for the movie to end. Nearly 2 hour movie with is too long for this type of comedy. Cranstons talents wasted.. hardly any chemistry between he and Franco. Walked out when the parents' favourite band started to play a Christmas song in their living room. Extra cheese.

Good movie, excellent cinematography. Leo seems to have done all sorts of crazy shit in this movie to get best actor.

Batman V Superman - extended cut

Okay, this movie wasn't as terrible as everyone says it was
Sure, it was crazy, and Superman + Batman both are dumbasses in the movie
And Batman kills people
And that crazy dream sequence.

As a superhero movie, it's not bad. True to character? Heck no

Still, not as bad as what the critics said

6.5/10

It's good... but definitely not what I expected (All I knew it was about a black guys life story)
I guess the story is important because it's a black main character? If anyone here watched it, post your thoughts.
Same here (I think). I went to see it about a month back with high expectations because all the reviews kept claiming it's one of the best, if not the best, film of the year. Moreover they kept claiming what a tear jerker it is. I was disappointed overall, probably because I expected to cry or at least be somewhat emotionally overcome but I simply wasn't. I will say the colorist did an amazing job and the acting was great, outside of that it didn't do much for me. Good film but definitely don't understand what the critics are raving about. I left thinking - that's it?

Hell or High Water 7/10 pretty pretty good, but not as good as the high praise from critics i feel
Rented it because same writer as Sicario. As a film I thought it was decent, but I'll admit the writing was good. If it weren't for the dry but humorous dialogue it would have been a shitty film overall. The scene with the waitress in the diner and the two rangers gave me a good chuckle.

I know you thought Sicario was okay but as a side note I love the feel of that film so much that I'm hoping this sequel "Soldado" (prequel technically?) about Benicio Del Torro's character will fit the bill.

Soldado (2017) - IMDb

Kevin Hart: What Now? 8/10 Nice stand up bit. It's different because he incorporated effects on the screens behind him while he's doing his stand up. A tad different than traditional stand up.

The girl with all the gifts. 8/10 A much better zombie movie for a while. similar to 28 days later type good. Not bad.

Just watching ppl escape a shit show fubar disaster, nothing else really. Worth watching for the 'holy shit everything's on fire' feeling but pretty one dimensional.

Judging by the Golden Globes, we should all go out and watch: Lala Land, Moonlight, and Manchester by the Sea.

Keeping Up With The Joneses: 6/10

Only saving grace with this one was Gal Gadot and Isla Fisher in their lingerie scene.

Assassin's Creed: 6.5/10

Fully expect there to be a sequel because Hollywood. Hopefully it's better than the first. It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't great, maybe just not what I expected.

The Accountant - 8/10. Pretty solid all-around.

Spoiler!

The Girl on the Train - 5/10. Very "Gone Girl"-ish as expected. It was all over the place I found, and the "clues" were mostly giveaways to the rest of the plot. Extra points for Emily Blunt playing an excellent hot mess lol

hell or high waters. 8/10
i'm being generous as I do enjoy these films, for someone who is not into slow paced movie, no huge explosions, they might score this super low as in wtf, I thought this is like the movie HEAT.

I did like Chris Pine in this, actually I've never liked Chris at all but he did a legit job in this one. The score was good, dialogue was on par, characters was good, Jeff Bridges was a bonus.

best film of the year? not sure, as I've yet watch Manchester by the water or la La land.
