good morning POST!

NanaimoRx-7 06-28-2003 10:29 AM

Well, it just hasn't been my yeafr for ordering parts. First my strut fiasco, they ain't coming at all. Now I have to buy and swap in some 81-83 strut housings, I'd go for the 84-85 with the better bearing but I don't know if I've got the cash for that. I'd also have to get new rotors with those.

This morning I went out to install the oil cooler before my appointment for an oil change. I finishing unpacking it and then procede to give it the best WTF? look I could muster. It looks like I've been given a second gen oil cooler by mistake. This one has the top and side holes for the oil lines, while my SA runs twin front holes. What the hell am I going to do now. I think I can use FC oil lines to mount it, but it means fabbing mounts and buying new lines. I think that I would have to put the cooler out front of the rad, but then how do I deal with the top hole. Seems like hard access.

Nightwalker 06-28-2003 01:25 PM

Pasted from my MSN so I don't have to write it again. Anyone interested in parts?

Coal - **sigh** says:
remember my electrical problem the other day?
Geoff - Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin' says:
ya
Coal - **sigh** says:
well, I went to courtney yesterday to visit a friend
Coal - **sigh** says:
picked her up
Coal - **sigh** says:
washed my car
Coal - **sigh** says:
went for a cruise so I won't get water spots
Coal - **sigh** says:
car starts feeling funny, and dies
Coal - **sigh** says:
open the hood, oil everywhere and no oil on the dipstick
Coal - **sigh** says:
plus my fuel pump won't turn on and my starter can't crank it over
Coal - **sigh** says:
I lost my warning lights bvecause of the electrical problem
Coal - **sigh** says:
so it seems that part of my oil system decided to burst apart while I had no warning lights and let me drive it until it died

95% chance of toasted engine, parting out on confirmation.

NanaimoRx-7 06-28-2003 01:33 PM

You're fucking kidding me.

Nightwalker 06-28-2003 01:43 PM

I wish I was, want a nice Holley setup cheap?

:(

NanaimoRx-7 06-28-2003 01:51 PM

Team Parkville is taking it up the ass. Sorry to hear the bad news. Hey wait, I've been getting screwed a lot on parts as of late too. What the hell is going on?

Nightwalker 06-28-2003 01:57 PM

I dunno, but my average night out on the weekend is now resulting in towtrucks, crashes, police, and me being a lot poorer.

I think I've had enough bad luck for right now, the good luck better start coming back.

I totally sympathize dude. Apparently now is not the time to be into cars.

Nightwalker 06-28-2003 02:04 PM

I'm considering buying a new Vitz to replace the ghettofly as a project car and drive the baron regularly, then get an FD next year.

I've never had a new car, that would be cool. Throw some rims on it and then do some interesting things with the engine while I save up for other projects.

Rx racer 06-28-2003 03:00 PM

shitty deal coal.Let us know what you decide. You might as well find a cheap motor and sell it running.Or are you going to keep it still?

91TII 06-28-2003 03:00 PM

Woah! Talk about shit ass luck! Right now it seems cars are just being hardcore POS's for everyone......I know I am starting to get sick and tired of all the bullshit surrounding them with money/parts/time and stuff like that. I dunno.....just shit ass luck.

Nightwalker 06-28-2003 03:55 PM

Nope, I'm parting it out, lots of rust discovered and the driver side door and rear quarter and fucked from the last time I drove it on a friday...............

I'll start making a parts list and pricing, lots of good stuff, will be selling cheap.

Couldn't turn over the engine by hand, so I'm pretty sure it's fucked. only 2400km or so on it too.

Still gotta trailor it home somehow. I think I'll wait until tomorrow and actually ask my dad before taking one of his trucks this time, don't need further reason to piss him off.

Thanks Timpo! Unfortunately I probably won't be able to go FD this year as I'll need my parents backing to get a loan or lease a new vehicle (I'm only 18, I can't get loans or anything yet).

I'd be looking at an FD when I'm 19, I don't know if my parents would be down for helping me get a sportscar.

When I got my FD, I was 17. Then I turned 18 later.
Anyways, I got loan through parents(parents backing?) but I couldn't afford it so I could keep my FD for only like 10 month or less...:(
FD was really fun car though...that car was FAST to me.:)

Timpo 06-28-2003 08:52 PM

Coal good luck on finding your FD.
