Kingfisher restaurant in Surrey.
I had the Burger Supreme and Poutine, while Form>Function had their "B" dinner special which had broccoli beef, fried rice and sweet and sour pork.
The burger was , admittedly the best burger I've ever had. Fresh beef, fried onions and mushrooms, cheese, bacon, and the thing that put it over the top: char siu pork. Fucking awesome for $4.99 with fries. Poutine was kinda meh, cheddar cheese was used, but it wasn't terrible. Form's meal was good, S&S pork was good, broccoli beef was alright, and the fried rice was the best either of us has tried.
8/10, only because of the location: The heart of Whalley. Felt like I drove into 8 Mile when we went to grab the food .

Tavola on Robson (just past Denman).
The pasta was good, but portions were miniscule (our dishes were $18 - $22). We were all hungry enough to have a second dinner at Zefferelli's right after, even the two girls (and that's after having birthday cake)! Made worse by the fact that there was no fucking bread before the dinner. No bread! What Italian place does that?! At Zefferelli's right after, we got bread even though the 4 of us shared 2 dishes only. AND they asked us if we wanted MOAR bread. Tavola also felt overly pretentious.
6/10, would not return.

loved the nobody home roll, dragon roll, and spicy salmon sashimi. Didnt like the prices for the amount tho. Shared it between me + 2 and it came out to roughly 15.50$ each

7/10
cute little place in the french cultural centre; impeccable parking; inexpensive french food.
too bad the duck i had that night was a little bit on the dry side, but my friend's mussels and frites was amazing.
oh yeah, and free parking on the streets is a bonus (if there's any left).

However, I'm sure most people would agree as well. | i agree, taiwanese food locally sucks.. but the only good place is pearl house which is on sperling and kingsway
their deep fried chicken leg on rice is really good, takes a long time to serve as its always freshly fried
and their beef noodle is better then lao shan dong imo
worth a try and price imo is much better than places like "the one" which is also the same owner as lao shan dong
imo.. cant be compared to food in Taiwan even though its all made from Taiwanese people

Sushi King on Granville.
Absolute fucking garbage.
Sushi arrived warm.
EDIT: I'm aware of its quality since its more of quantity.
If anyone wants a cheap fix for decent tasting Sushi on a budget price, check out Hana Sushi in Crystal Mall.
Chicken Teriyaki on rice with a California roll for 7 bucks. I posted photos of it a few times already buried deep in the thread. Posted via RS Mobile

Anyways here's my collection of photos of Hana Sushi in Crystal Mall
Then there's that other Sushi place inside the same food court as Crystal Mall which isn't too bad actually. All of this for $6.50 which includes a miso soup

Save on meats. Had the 'Classic burger'.
Ordering a burger from a butcher you would expect to have a quality home made patty. Not the case this time. It was a processed hamburger patty. The bun and fixings's were good quality though.
6.5/10

I used to eat there once or twice a week. Obviously didn't expect it to be top knotch quality, but I'm a pretty picky nigiri/sashimi eater for the most part and it was okay.
I went back probably 2-3 weeks ago and I was actually quite surprised how much the quality has gone downhill. I hope it's just a temporary rough patch type thing, but I haven't gone back since then.

I hope it's just a temporary rough patch type thing, but I haven't gone back since then. | I remember the first time I went which was back in July, I thought it was one notch better than Samurai/Banzai sushi, but a couple of visits after that it was just simply gross.
At least with Crystal Mall, it's always consistent every time I've gone.
