Ah, Fairmont Pacific Rim alumni! :) |
So yeah, Max Borrowman from Fairmont. that's why he's legit. OH last thing. I HATE their plates with a passion. DO you know how hard it is to eat rice on a plate, let alone you have these tile / broken plates with different shape. I'm asian and i had a tough time. it was funny and sad sort of way. |
Zen Sushi in Bellingham It's pretty, but overpriced, especially for below t&t grade sushi... http://thecrossingguide.com/wp-conte...enSushi-10.jpg (google pic) price 3/10 food 3/10 service 7/10 decor 7/10 |
I didn't know it was possible for food to be below T&T quality, especially sushi. T&T sushi is like eating rolled up fried rice. Must've been a terrible experience. No wonder my Bellingham friends had such great things to say about Richmond Sushi :heckno: |
May have been because it was close to closing? (well about 3hrs before :lol) dunno but ugh.. -_- |
La Quercia Food: 7/10 Service: 9/10 La Quercia [Restaurant] | Jax & cs https://foodweliketoeat.files.wordpr...-008.jpg?w=800 |
I haven't been to La quercia since Lucias left. When he was still there him and Adam (the other chef) were putting out 11/10 food consistently. They were the best restaurant in the city IMO. |
cho sun, spicy sweet chicken is the fucking bomb 8/10 |
Tried Torafuku on 958 Main Street, very interesting new restaurant. Great chicken wings and interesting Asian fusion.....they had a great Asian gnocchi dish that was really tasty. I would rate it 7/10, very good, would go back for sure. Steve was the host and an owner. Really nice guy. |
sushiville 10/10 everything was bomb service 8/10 dope place to hit up if Kishimoto is too packed since its down the block |
Just got back from Vegas. Brunch @ Bacchanal Buffet: 8.5/10 - Lots of delicious food for sure, the brisket was incredible. However, some dishes looked liked they had been sitting a while which was surprising considering how busy it was in there. Wilted lettuce in some salads, the nigiri looked like it had been sitting in the sun.. completely (sadly) avoided the sushi area because nothing looked fresh. Had high expectations so maybe would have given it a higher score if I went in with none. Bottomless mimosas started the day off right though :lol Nobu: 10/10 - Great meal, the yellowfin sashimi with jalapeno is a must! Definitely will return. I will say this meal was hours after being loser drunk at Wet Republic watching Tiesto so maybe next time I'll be a little more critical. Hell, the chicken strips and fries we had at the show were amazeballs as well so.... :considered: Mon Ami Gabi: 7.5/10 - My scallops were great, wife's salmon not so much... I know we're spoiled here with our salmon but it was more than the fish that killed her dish. Roast thumbelina carrots were mush, over abundance of minted pea puree was more like a thick paste she did not enjoy either.. She hardly ate half her plate. Mussels and wine were nice though and great view of the Bellagio Fountain. Planned on eating and reviewing several other restaurants but gambling, late night booze fests and sex changed most of our plans :fullofwin: |

There are those who have been and will stay with the industry get jaded and no longer give a fuck and want to get you in and out ASAP; those are the ones working for their expected tip yet still do a shit job. Those are the people I can't fucking stand. |
Bubble 88, next to Surrey Central mall :heckno: place was surprisingly good, i normally avoid these tiny places, but my cousin has always raved about it and dragged me along this time the service was nice, although they forgot some items, the restaurant was clean and kind of modern looking, the food, as mentioned, was surprisingly good, but i was starving... (had the curry brisket) overall 7/10 |
Taka's sushi. Kinmedai and shimaaji were the fresh specials of the day. Aburi wagyu, foie gras, lobster, mutsu, blah blah, guys who've been there know the drill. Taka-san awesome as always. Asks me to come back the next month everytime but damn, 40 pieces of sushi for $204 after tips, can't afford to come all the time. :okay: 10/10 |
Giardino: it used to be II Giardinos. It's re-opened down the street. decor 9/10, the back patio is epic wine is not that bad, we opened 2 reds. 6 people. apptizers Carpaccio of Beef Tenderloin Grated Egg White, Capers, & Honey Mustard Dressing very good, super nice meat, thin and just creamy. not the cheap type where u have to chew a while with the connective tissue. Lobster Bisque Crème Fraiche, Pea Shoots .... enough said. Heart of Baby Romaine Wedges Caesar Dressing & Herb, Garlic Croutons (no eggs) nicely done but there were too much garlic. main course Oven Roasted Pacific Sablefish, Horseradish Crust, Braised Lamb Ragout really good. flaky and just perfect, not overly done. Slow Oven-Braised Veal Ossobuco alla Milanese, Saffron Risotto also very good. gave us a fork to dig into the bone marrow to eat on bread. epic. could have used a kick of heat. dessert Baked Chocolate Soufflé with Chestnut Crème Anglaise, only took 12 minutes to make so that was awesome (versus 25 at other places) ALMOND CANNOLI (qty 2) Zesty Ricotta Lemon Cream Blood Orange Sorbet very legit. could have been a tad crispier ahhahaha i'm such a douchebag. serivce 9/10 seating 7/10. it's a busy restaurant and it's always packed but we had a table of 6 in a circular round table. super small. It's a very jam packed place. food 9/10 would go back again and again |
Temaki Sushi on West Broadway Food 6.5/10 Service 9/10 Sushi was a bit overpriced but overall pretty tasty. I like Kazu more. Seems to be Japanese chefs(?) but with Chinese waiters Really good service surprisingly, always kept tea full without being a nuisance Had Chirashi-don, Kazu is better -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sasaya Bistro on Royal oak Taiwanese/Korean food Food 8/10 Service 4/10 Forgot the name of the dish I ordered, but it was instant noodles with cheese on top, with kimchi soup, luncheon meat, and hot dogs Tasted really good, but i'm sure it was really bad for me hahahah Bubble tea tasted powdery and bad Service was really really slow. Went with 5 friends, they totally completely forgot one of the orders, so my friend sat there for 45 minutes without food |

Been trying to find the Pomerol we had with dinner here locally without any success.. damn good wine. $100 USD there so curious to know how much I could pick a bottle up for here. Probably $40-50CAD I'd imagine so could be a regular pickup. If anyone sees this, please let me know! http://ct-static.com/labels/223829.jpg |
Sea Harbour at River Rock Food: 8/10 Service: 0/10 Some manager or some shit came over to our table and started spazzing about how there are other people waiting with resos and that we had to give our table back even though they didn't tell us from the start. Too tired to give a shit and I was going to leave soon regardless so I got the bill. Left $35 from a $32.95 bill and other manager stared us down on the way out :seriously: |
They are still around.. I thought the ownership was transferred from one part of the extended family to another. Quote:

Rostizado in Edmonton. Holy fuck...a real restaurant in Edmonton. Times are changing. We started off with an hour wait. They said we could drink on the patio, and order applies but nothing off the full menu. Alright, weird, but as long as I could drink with some friends I have no problem waiting at all. Appies were decent, a little over priced, and a little under delivered. Off to an ok start, but could be better. Margaritas were awesome. Not too sweet, fresh lime juice, good tequila. They took us in for dinner. The owner came by, poured us each a shot of their house tequila, on the house, for no particular reason and explained the flavour profiles of it, and many other tequilas. Any memory of a slightly overpriced appy has been forgiven and forgotten. Dinner came. We had the platter of 2 and some sides Half of a MASSIVE rotisserie chicken dry rubbed and brined, and about 10+ oz of sliced rotisserie pork loin. Spiced potatoes cooked in fat from the rotisserie, grilled spring onions and cauliflower. A selection of house made hot sauces. Holy fuck. So much food, so good. Chicken was nice and juicy, pork was delicious, potatoes were amazing. The hottest hot sauce was perfect. If anyone is stuck in the shithole that is edmonton for any reason, go to this place while you are there. I'd definitely forgo the appies and go straight for the platter. You won't be disappointed. |

might be a temporary or permanent closure |
Bistro Wagon Rouge Had the moules frites, mussels were in coconut curry, cilantro, ginger, cream broth and was pretty tasty. But the fries were over salted. But it took them 45 minutes to fucking get my entree out. And we were the second table to order since opening. The fuck was the kitchen doing? Fucking jerking off? 7.5/10 for the broth, 0/10 for wasting 30 minutes of my life |
