^ yup, definitely not fancy by all means, and if u're in teh area, who want a quick / fast bite and dont' want to sit down; that's my go to. |
I think you are thinking of the cafe side. It’s not a quick bite on the bacaro side. |

Just wanted to give all of you a friendly heads up. I will no longer be at the Ebisu on Robson location as of today. I will be taking over the location on West Broadway, there's going to be changes coming. Just wanted to thank all of you who have visited me here over the past 16 years. Hope you guys can come visit me once I'm settled into the Broadway location! Equal parts excited and stressed hah |

Appreciate the recommendation! |
Please do, I wanna hit that spot up. |
Nightingale for wife’s work Xmas party. I’d been there once before but more so just dropping in. This was a set menu served family style. Really good and a great spot for 10-12 people The winner for me was the steak and the sweet potato baked potatoes lol. Fantastic wine and whiskey list there |

The fries were excellent I must say and I’m not much of a fry guy. Nice spot. Will return and hope I won’t have to park 6kms away lol. Next time I’ll try the animal burger. I was jealous of the lettuce and tomato on my client’s burg. Thanks again for the recommendation SeemsGood |
Went to District 11 on Main St, a Japanese x Vietnamese fusion place, for some late night food (~ 12am). Honestly, I should have known better than to go to a f u-sion place. You know how every viet place you go to, you try their regular pho first, cause there's no way they can f up normal pho. Wrong. The broth was very bland, kinda like getting crappy noodles from No. 9 - tasteless. So much for an "authentic" menu. Man i miss my ex's pho LOL We also ordered Aburi Crispy Rice, California Tempura, Banh Xeo Ebi Tempura, and Nori Truffle Fries. All left us like ???? confuse Got the Shiso-Melon cocktail and uh I guess my mistake was thinking that I'd like Soho Lychee now, more than I did in high school. I didn't. Guess that one was on me. |
any recommendations on a seafood (westcoast) restaurant in vancouver? fine dining, a plus if it has a seafood tower of some sort (prefer to not have spicy tuna roll or similar on it). |
Blue Water Cafe if you’re super fancy. Beach House in west Vancouver isn’t too bad. $100 on Sundays. |
Went to Yugo yesterday with a client yesterday. It was alright? Take my comments as a grain of salt though, not the biggest fan of Japanese food in general. The Yugo Sour was fantastic though. |
Finally went to Published. Wifey and I have been trying to go for like 6 months but it was always difficult to book because we have a couple kids at home so the weekday bookings were a little too late because of it being a school night. Was it good? Yea it was good, not my most memorable meal good but good enough that I want to go back and try the tasting menu. Like the look of the place, simple and clean and without a bougie vibe. Le Crocodile, haven't been here for a lot of years for no real reason we've always had a decent time here. It didn't disappoint and was as solid as ever. |
Good to hear about Le Croc, honestly kind of surprised they survived. Might be my favourite restaurant in Vancouver as cliched and old school as it can be lol |

Places like that are needed. Honestly no matter how old school or cliche they are, when they do it perfectly, there’s nothing to match it. Even at a place like fortes, the food isn’t amazing, but the experience as a whole is spectacular. The food at croc isn’t trying to be something that it isn’t. It’s classic and executed perfectly, which is way more impressive than some experiment that isn’t. |

Will I ever go again? no, a hell no. Cool concept, but wrong location to sell that type of food. If they were more towards Main and 1st, that would be cool. |
Last weekend for YVR Dine Out ...anyone tried a good place? I did Paul Bakery on Robson and thought it was good, a definite recommend. For the main, they had a salmon confit as one option which was really good. And steak as another. Then try the pudding for dessert. It was the $39 price option and the value of the three courses was >$70. |
Finally tried another much talked about place, Land and Sea. I'll make this short and sweet. The service we received from host to server was amazing but the food was nothing special. It wasn't bad but nothing spectacular in anyway shape or form. No regrets on trying but not a repeat for me. |
Ate at “Piva modern Italian” in new west a few weeks ago Place is one of the highest rated places in New West, but after going there I’d say it’s “New West Fancy” it’s probably the nicest, most upscale resty in NW and I had been wanting to try it for a while because I always drive by it at work https://i.imgur.com/3y7anbU.jpg https://i.imgur.com/BuiRfkv.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ASUbB9Q.jpg https://i.imgur.com/V4CHajT.jpg Highlight of the meal was probably the Burrata and the Arincini (not pictured) wife got the seafood pasta which was pretty good, a nice traditional tomato/marinara, fresh seafood I got the nightly special carbonara, I’m kind of a sucker for carbonara but I’d say this was sub par.. not sure who thinks pesto with a carbonara is a good idea. Food is pretty pricey for what it is, the pasta dishes were like 26/28, appies 16/20. Wine pairings with the mains were like $20 a glass for the “recommend” pairings. We also got a deconstructed tiramisu for dessert which was pretty good. Our waiter was this old timer, the type who may have worked in a nice steak house in his prime but now is kind of washed up. Nice enough guy but the night was topped off by seemingly the main server a younger woman telling this guy off right next to our table “I don’t care about your ‘experience’ bla bla bla” so that was nice.. I’d give it a 6/10 probably wouldn’t repeat as I’m rarely in the area but honestly I’d probably rather go to a pub or somthing given the choice and pricing |
Kosho Sushi in Poco 9/10 Non descript sushi place in a strip mall in Poco, the omakase was the best sushi I've had in the lower mainland, short of Japan. Super casual and non pretentious. |
I’m literally raging that they called something with pesto a carbonara |
