Maybe he wasn't thinking... or did you miss how he got his head mashed into the boards about 3 seconds earlier? Yet he managed to get up, could barely stand, barely had a grip on his stick, and yet he still tried to make the clearing play. I'll forgive that the attempt failed given the never-say-die effort involved. A lot of others missed their assignments leading up to Kes getting creamed, and there were at least a couple other blown plays afterward as well.

we can still take back this series
what we have to do next game is just fill their net with goals
beat them as badly as you can

How many times have we been scored on in this series when one of our D has had a broken stick? I don't have the best memory, but I think it's been 2 or 3 times now. Think it would be a good idea for D-men to go back to a wood stick for this reason? Forwards easily benefit most by using composite.

Kesler didn't want to pull a Mitchell and went up the middle. Too bad he only had one hand on his stick.

Johnson could've cleared too. He should've lifted the puck.

3 costly clearing mistakes in 2 games result in losses.

As someone stated earlier, fuck fuck fuck fuck shit fuck, or something along those lines.

i love how u told me to gtfo
then u went on about how the canucks sucked last night

murd0c 05-10-2009 10:46 AM

All teams are expected to lose on the way to the cup and the canucks are no exception, I look forward to our game 6 and 7 wins! GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!!

Uhhhhh no. Although suprises occur in the Play Offs, Vancouver was the heavily favoured team over the Hawks. We were supposed to be the tougher team, supposedly the better defense, the better goaltending, and have the better play off experience. Although Hawks have the edge in offense, it's not like our offensive resources are slacking either when AV has all 3 lines producing. Not sure why AV decided not to utilize them halfway through the series.

That being said, it's a disappointment. And I can't even take injuries or fatigue as an excuse. IIRC, Chicago didn't get any rest between series, and are playing through injuries (Toews def. prob. others too). Yes I'm a fan, but I'm not gonna suck Canuck cock just to avoid the bandwagon comment.

Seems like everyone missed Kesler being driven into the boards prior to him turning the puck over. It should've been a penatly. There was that other instance where Kesler's stick got slashed and had a broken stick. No call, Kesler even showed the Refs the stick. Whoever said this was gonna be a easy series? Canucks in 7

Ppl who wanted Chicago on the 1st round?

skiiipi 05-10-2009 11:26 AM

so are we gonna get dimetra back for the next game?
that might be the exrtra offensive touch that we need
get Sundin and Dimetra back together

That's why fans were throwing shit on the ice - even Hughson commented on how the refs seemed to have put away the whistles after two different Canucks getting hauled down on the forecheck without a call... and then we get called twice in a row, and the resulting powerplays change the game. Granted the Bieksa high stick was really a high stick, but the Kesler holding call was pretty f'n weak considering what BOTH teams had been getting away with the past period-and-a-half.

Derek_N84 05-10-2009 12:31 PM

It ain't over till its over. I believe in the Nucks, this series is coming back to Vancouver for 7 and we're taking that shit too.

civicyvr 05-10-2009 12:32 PM

Hawks adjusted their play at the point.

Dumb penalties killed us after a 2-1 lead.

I still believe in a game 7 win.

Canucks will regroup realizing their mistakes.

GO CANUCKS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

murd0c 05-10-2009 12:59 PM

this could be a good thing for us if u think about it. Going at the speed we were going we would not make it past the next round. Now at least this will hopefully give us the momentum for a push in the finals. Don't toss you towels in yet I have a feeling theres a lot more hockey to come!!

SumAznGuy 05-10-2009 01:00 PM

Russia won gold in the WHC. Canada got silver.

So much hockey disappointment this weekend........ even Team Canada can't hold a 1-0 lead and ends up losing :(

As an aside... Braydon Cockburn... what an unfortunate last name.

hotjoint 05-10-2009 01:13 PM

we're winning this series

keitaro 05-10-2009 01:30 PM

Canucks in 7!

Kesler is going to come back hard in games 6, and 7 to make up for his shitty clearing attempt.

Watching the highlights, looks like they played Rolston instead of Mason for the gold medal game.

JV6 05-10-2009 01:57 PM

canucks better force game 7!

Tim Budong 05-10-2009 02:01 PM

Couple amusing letters from the Province:

Quote:

Baaaa-d media and fans
The Province - May 7, 2009

Here, in Canucksville, we are lily-livered. Our hometown heroes have now won six of their seven playoff outings. They swept the Blues and have re-taken home ice advantage with what D-man Kevin Bieksa described as a "greasy" road win in Chicago.

After Saturday's loss to the Blackhawks, our fearless print media sports reporters, to a man, had the shovels out and were predicting a looming funeral for the Canucks. Fans, like sheep, bleated along. I was baaaaa-ad myself.

The team, in the meanwhile, questioned our weird negativity, slightly pissed they sounded, and planned the adjustments required to slow down the speedy Chicago squad. On Tuesday night they responded with a victory.

All is right in La La Land again. I promise never to doubt the team again -- until their next loss.

Surrey 'Gunners' sounds good
The Province - May 8, 2009

The news of the attempt to take the Phoenix Coyotes to Hamilton is good news but I'd rather see them come to Surrey. It's almost impossible to get tickets to see the Canucks play.

Two NHL teams in BC would have no problem filling the rinks as we have a huge appetite for hockey here.

Alberta has two teams -- imagine the rivalry between Vancouver and Surrey! We could call them the Surrey "Spirit Bears" or the Whalley "Black Wolves," Whalley "Wolverines" or even the Surrey "Shooters" or "Gunners."

Harvey Specter 05-10-2009 02:25 PM

I predict a 4-1 win for the Canucks in game 6, go Canucks go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
