Time to get a team ready for next season. All the young guys this year learned alot. All this bickering over a sports team is pathetic. I want the Canucks to win as much or more than any other fan, but its only a sport.

mitchell's long stick saved the canucks a lot of times

Yes and No.

The backhand was just sick. but i feel that he should of stopped Kane's first goal and the wrap around.

Admit it, luongo had a bad game. He was not the STAR goalie that he should of been.

OVERALL - Canucks was 100X better than they ever were from Game 1, 3rd period up till this game.

Bad time to have a off game - luongo standard.

another thing I didn't mention was look at this time last year. Naslund is gone, BMoe is gone and really other then Lu and the sisters we had nothing.

Name me a first year GM that had nothing in place when he started that has gottin as far a Gillis has? Everyone was laughing last year he knows nothing look at him no expression hes just a player agent.

What Gillis did was interduce new age hockey thinking...no way to play, train live and sleep that game. He will keep it up won't rush like most GM;s do and will make the right decisions. For those about to say well Sundin wasn't right.....Well for only giving up money and not haveing to risk are future players that pays off right there for giving us a chance and to really get us to the 2nd round this year.

Thanks Gillis some one like you behing the scenes gives me hope and faith for the off season and the year to come.

maxx 05-11-2009 08:49 PM

good game. Entertaining.

We played well. Till next year, hockey.

P.S. sorry Canada in the World Championships :P

Lu should of had that wrap around. That was a weak goal that was made possible by Mitchell and his shit play.

It is completely demoralizing for a team to score a goal and then have the opposition score to tie it up after.

DanHibiki 05-11-2009 08:50 PM

we had a strong defense core and a solid checking line (burrows, kesler). so it wasn't just lu and the TWINS

dL 05-11-2009 08:54 PM

I agree with Gillis. He's great (so far). Let's see what he'll do to try again next season.

I really want Tavares with Hodgson in Canucks lol... please make that happen somehow!

who could we trade for me? Lu aint going back to the team that drafted him especially with the million year contract they signed di pietro on. The best bet is to go for hodgsons current line mate hes lighting it up with we wond have to give up as much and they know each other.

He needed to stop the Burish goal and the wraparound when we were up 1 each time. Not easy to do, but we needed some great saves at that point in the game.

Oh well, it happens. At least we went out fighting instead of sitting back again.

Yes, and Gillis > Nonis.

AzNightmare 05-11-2009 08:59 PM

And some random news:

At the end of tonight's game.
Daniel and Henrik Sedin have 490 points each, including regular season and playoffs.

Ch28 05-11-2009 09:01 PM

I feel bad for Lu though cause his after game interview on the Team1040 made it sound like he was crying.

damn

AzNightmare 05-11-2009 09:02 PM

^ Probably was. He really wants the cup bad and he's a pretty emotional guy off the ice.

By keeping these players I think it's the best way to go. But I do have to say if we can get the sisters for 5-5.5 a year keep them as well.

dL 05-11-2009 09:07 PM

I honestly don't want the Sedins anymore. I rather have Luongo.

LUUUUUUUU 05-11-2009 09:08 PM

IMO these are the ones that will be resigned

DanHibiki 05-11-2009 09:11 PM

wellwood?? really. even though he's been playing well, if they plan on using him as a 3rd line center i'm sure they can pick up someone better especially if the the 1st line center is taken up by henrik and the 2nd line by hodgson.

trip 05-11-2009 09:14 PM

i thought about that, i do agree with you too but the list is who out of the list is most likely to be resigned over the others.

i think we can all agree pyatt wont be coming back here

DanHibiki 05-11-2009 09:15 PM

i'm buying a hodgson jersey.

6thGear. 05-11-2009 09:19 PM

Some pretty bad officiating tonight from the Caps/Pens game as well. Once again, the next season is going to be interesting and exciting. I think Gillis did a good job for his first yr as GM. I am really interested in what he can do now, with so many UFA's coming up and with potentially all those spaces he may need to fill

In a sense, we still haven't outdone the 2002/2003 team of Cloutier infamy who went to Game 7 of round 2 (although took 7 games to close off round 1).

I've never been on the Luongo bandwagon (good goalie, not "greatest in the league" and certainly not irreplaceable) as most Vancouver fans have ever since we obtained him from Florida, and he really contributed to fucking this game up. But to trade him away would be absolutely ridiculous, and it's surprising to see some former Luongo supporters call for that.
