Steve Weibe has a crazy backlog of stuff from previous customers etc but a guy i used to work with contacted him about a portrait and he wanted to do it so he got in within the month and had it done. And then once you're in with these guys you've typically got a foot in the door for more work

tbh i think both of them does mediocre black and gray work. In you are in to black and gray there are TONS of way better artist that will happily take new clients in the states. There is also a few in Canada on the eastcoast

This city definitely need more black and gray talent

Anyone know any local artists that do really good brush stroke work? Been looking to get a japanese Enso for a long time now

threezero 10-22-2017 02:40 PM

did anybody got anything from the chronic ink crew while they were in vancouver?

SkinnyPupp 06-23-2018 03:04 AM

Wow it's been a while! Got my first tattoo in 5 years, done by Horitsuki (Dust Wu) at Galaxy III (they had a flash day today)

This froggy frog is perfect for me! Especially considering it was a flash and I would have taken this as a custom design any time.

I also won a $1000 HKD voucher so it looks like I'll be getting another soon as well PogChamp

Yea, if you go to Cali you can get in with some amazing artists pretty much at your leisure. Just waiting until I’ve got some dough lol

I'm more into nature based and blackwork stuff but for B&G in LA I follow Sara Fabel

SkinnyPupp 07-12-2018 04:43 PM

If anyone is looking for B&G flowers, (IMO) the best artist for that subject in Vancouver is doing a flash day on Friday

$350 these are 8x5"

Other great B&G artists there too, I'd hit it up FOR SURE

Couple of sessions ago. I've had most of the top filled in for the most part. Got about 2 more sessions to go.

may i ask but why the reaper? ive been wanting to get a foo dog half sleeve because to me it represent a protection and goes well with me thinking of my family and friends,

I know this is like asking experienced track drivers where I can go to race for a day but ... are there any places that offer temporary tats? Kind of like a test drive, if you know what I mean.

I went with Charon for a lot of different reasons. I've had a lot of close calls in my life, so to remember I've almost gotten to know him on a few different occasions. He's always waiting for you, life is so immensely fragile and can be gone in a flash when you least expect it so it's a reminder for me to always keep busting my ass and never settle for mediocrity. Also, I have picked a profession that has fairly higher risk (especially in the early stages of the career) than "most" other careers so to always keep him in the back of my mind whenever i'm working.

And I didn't want your standard grim tattoo so we made it a little more "traditional" ferryman/Charon with him in his boat on the river styx with his staff, and gonna toss in a plane silhouette in there too.

Curious what you guys do for tipping. My first two i tipped, third the artist refused a tip, and now i have a large piece I'm starting in September. Do you tip based on % regardless or if the rates fairly high do you just tip an amount?

same artist?
either way if its a large piece then its gonna take multiple long sessions which means youll probably make a friend out of it. Why not consider giving them a gift? if they like to drink then give a nice bottle, if they like to smoke then couple cartons or cigars.

My sessions are typically around 5-6 hours so roughly in the $900-$1200 hood depending on artist I usually just give them a brown each time.

Latest addition, blackwork snake by @ku.619

It's beat to shit in this pic, doesn't do the work justice - my skin gets really inflamed so fresh pics never look as good as others I see. I'll have to post healed pics later SeemsGood

First post in RS for over two years, but would love to share my first tat (from Birthmark Tattoos in Vancouver):

One more planned for November in Tokyo with this style from this exact artist (except as a Hayabusa/Halo 3-inspired Samurai):

Nice you found an artist you like SeemsGood be sure to post it then!

I went to go see Jesse at Blackwater tattoo after a nice 3 year long break. I figured it was about time to finish up my 1st piece and get the next one started. I Extended my half sleeve to a full sleeve and now that I think about it should've just done that from the beginning so that the art flows better. Anyways, here's todays work, gotta go back for shading in 2 weeks. Cant wait to see what it looks like when its all shaded in.

Got my monkey outline started today, shading in 2 weeks. Surprised how difficult the ass is, thought fatty things are supposed to be easier.
