Anyone have recommendation for an artist to do St. George fighting a dragon? James Acrow wasn’t interested in doing it, so looking for someone else with similar style.

anyone got recommendation for someone locally that does B&G realism animal tattoos ?

been following this artist on IG https://www.instagram.com/jaicheong/, and I LOVE his work, wish he was local, or at least a little closer than where he currently is... I love his tigers ( specially this work https://www.instagram.com/p/Bgf9FQqn...n-by=jaicheong )

shouldn't be surprised that his book are currently closed , sigh BibleThump was hoping to get this piece before the end of the year. KILLER work though, thanks for pointing me his way Skinny!

SkinnyPupp 10-12-2018 11:49 PM

Yeah thing about that style is that you have to be pretty much a master to do anything that looks really good.. and by then you'll probably be very famous or popular, so books are busy if not closed completely

I noticed that a lot of people here ask for advice on "non tattoo tattoos", so selection seems to be limited. My advice is to try looking at more traditional or common tattoo styles that may be to your liking. Traditional, black and grey, blackwork, Japanese, or neo traditional would all make an excellent tiger tattoo. There are TONS of great artists in Van that do all sorts of other great tattoos SeemsGood

Edit: Eckel just posted on his IG that he's taking clients for Oct > Feb, so you might want to check him out if you're still looking for a large animal piece (albeit his style is more graphical than what you've been looking at)

I am a fan of Japanese / black and grey as well. The others unfortunately would not be what I am looking for. Thank you by the way , as someone who is still fairly noob at all this, your opinions have allowed me to search what I didn't fully understand and has given me a bit more of an understanding on different style!

Do you have any recommendations for neo-traditional tattoos in the gvrd? Similar to https://www.instagram.com/josephbrycetattoo/?hl=en or https://www.instagram.com/nolc/?hl=en

I don't know enough individual artists in Vancouver, but you could probably just go to Gastown tattoo and find a B&G or Blackwork artist's portfolio that you like. https://www.instagram.com/gastowntattooparlour/

Cool to see those styles being posted here! SeemsGood

If I was able to go to any artist in Vancouver it would be lizard milk

They're opening their books on Dec 28 too! PogChamp

Yeah I only really follow the artists that I would go to as a "dream artist" - like probably not possible due to time, location, and cost, but I am a fan.

For regular tattoos to add to my collection, I just check out locals porfolios or do flash pieces now. I have posted my last couple here.

I am saving my chest and back for one of these 'dream artists' if I win the lottery or something LUL

Like

Spoiler!

Actually I'll spoiler my list, and keep this one here. You should check out Shannon Elliott and see when she opens her books (Vancouver). Her style should groove with you :

Theres a couple artists id like to go in the states mostly in new york and la. Those blackworks are cool but id dread the shading. Dream artists for me are probably steve moore or https://www.instagram.com/mxmttt/

I actually was looking at the sticks and stones shop but came to this thread to see if there were more options.

SkinnyPupp 12-13-2018 10:13 PM

What do you mean you'd dread the shading?

If you are ever worried about tattoos hurting, and want to feel like a pussy for it, follow Celine. Now that is a tough person.

In her IG story she describes this as the most painful tattoo she's ever gotten (and as you can see she has gotten a LOT). She had to be in a wheelchair to travel LUL

Unfortunately most of her pics are NSFW and can't be posted here

She's a big inspiration for me, and I think to a lot of others as well. If you ever want to feel like a wimp about tattooing, go watch her feed... I know I'll never complain about pain ever again after reading about that heel tattoo. LUL

Ding 12-13-2018 11:17 PM

Shading is one thing but going over the area over and over again to make it black is another.

Yeah I would never get to that level of commitment.

Got myself a Valetines day gift yesterday. Added another piece to the collection.

Anybody else got any fresh ink or planning one for 2019?

Aside from a flash piece here and there, I am planning on doing a huge chest or maybe even full frontal in the next couple years. Hoping to be able to make a trip out to Gakkin in Amsterdam to do it.

And of course I want to get a tattoo from his daughter who is 10 years old and already killing it. Her art is already amazing, and I think she is going to be one of the world's best if she keeps it up.

Full frontal from gakkin would be siicccckkk.

And wow just check out his kid. Haha she is one bad ass little girl

SkinnyPupp 02-16-2019 11:09 PM

Yeah Gakkin, Gotch, and Guy are my top 3 for a large scale tattoo like that.. Guy actually comes to HK on occasion but he has suits he's working on here already:

Any one of these guys I would just give a fat stack of cash and just say HAVE AT IT

If things work out, I'll be able to do just that :awwyeah:
