Nice shots Senna! Whats your macro setup? Here's a quickie i took in the backyard. Notice the eyes. SO cool! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3565/...9db1b80c_b.jpg I did get a bit closer into the eyes, will post it later. |

:p I got to test a brand new Nikon 105mm f2.8 VR Micro Nikkor over the weekend. Holy crap, it's a sweet lens! |
Senna, thanks! :) That 105 VR looks to be an amazing lens! Post up some samples! Niforpix, the MP-E isn't something you just strap onto your camera and go shooting. You NEED a macro flash (not a pop-up or a hot shoe mounted 580). Light with the MP-E is the biggest thing, and getting focus can be tricky. You don't focus as much as you rock your body back and forth millimeter by millimeter trying to hold still getting your shot in focus(all while your holding your breath). I've spent months trying to get decent shots with it, and am now just getting the hang of it. If you'd wana try my setup out i wouldn't mind showing you how to use it a bit! |
Three of us (with Jason) should get together some place one day for a shoot. Doesn't matter what. Then I could try your setup :) Buddy at work borrowed the lens over the weekend but had not time to try it lol but yeah, he told me it's a bit tricky. He has a focusing rail that he was gonna try the lens with but never got around to it. |
Focusing rails suck. Hand held all the way! :P I've never used a tripod for anything. |
Here is a pretty extreme macro shot. 5d MKII + MPE + MR-14EX flash + X4 -X5 lifesize. All hand-held. Holding my breath like crazy. Full frame, not cropped at all. Enjoy! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2601/...b7e8e296_b.jpg I would love to hear what you think of it! http://www.flickr.com/photos/ernietu...49313/sizes/l/ to view a bit bigger! The full 5616 x 3744 is banana's! |
man these shots make me want to get a macro.. but fucking photography is soooo expensive!!! |
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2647/...e4b47600_b.jpg No one into macro with all the nice weather? I'd love to see some other stuff other than my own! Or your feedback would be nice too. |
Nice shot. |
just bought a Vivitar 100mm f3.5 off this used lens website... just waiting for it to ship. anyone ever actually seen one in person? i wanted to get into macro, but don't want to spend too much money, and i found this lens for cheap. i heard build quality sucks, but it's quite sharp apparently. can't wait to try it. |
True macro lenses are generally very sharp. I don't see any reason why the Vivitar would be any different. Just remember to post pics! :) |
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2788/...689cae2c44.jpg First time trying macro. hand-held reversed the XSi kit lens. |
Cool first macro shot RCubed! What lighting did you use? |
^thanks! i just used the ambient lighting! |
