it doesnt matter how good of a driver you are, once a stupid idiot rams into you, your still in a collision. athough its not your fault, but it sure sucks when you see your nice car damaged, and have to go through the process of getting fixed. thats why i rarely drive on snowy days and when there is snow stuck on the main roads, unless its a absolute must to drive.

My biggest pieces of advice for anyone regardless of tires is, if you're on ice or lose control DO NOT TOUCH THE BRAKES. Drive extremely defensively, and leave a ridiculous amount of space in front of you. I don't know how much snow is in van right now, but it sounds like there are tons of accidents happeneing

Shit, it's a madhouse out there. My dad got stuck in the rental Camry (from ICBC to cover for our stolen car) and he called me out to pick him, my mom, and my siblings up with the Odyssey, which has Blizzaks on it. Someone slid into me while I was parked @ 33rd & Granville around Quilchena Park. Fawk it... My rear bumper.

So many bad drivers around, accidents waiting to happen. 4WD/AWD vehicles without proper winter tires were sliding around that area too, very bad hills. Saw lots of ML's, FX35/45, etc getting stuck/slipping about. There was this BMW that just blew past us at about 80km/h on 33rd, hope he goes and dies. Scared the shit out of me, left very little gap between me and the opposing lane.

Oh, the fire truck that was supposed to come and help the other 2 dozen stuck cars slid and crashed into 2 parked cars. Funny as hell.

Made it home, but my dad is such a backseat driver and made me nervous as heck. Kept on giving me conflicting instructions. And going up hills even with snow tires suck... especially when there are people who don't know how to drive in snow out and about. Blizzaks on the Ody aren't very good for this kind of snow driving, wish we still had the Michelin X-Ice tires that were on our old Sienna.

if they shut down the bridge both ways, i doubt it'll get towed.

besides, look at the outside, it's reasonable that people get stuck and park there. dont' worry about it. Just go tomorrow afternoon, it should have opened up.

Good advice. The moment u brake you will swerve..so break verrrry lightly.

Haven't been out of my house yet since 3 before the snow.

I just got home an hour ago after being stuck on arthur lang since 10:30ish. I was one of the first cars stuck going northbound towards Vancouver. Ended up parking on the side until they cleared everyone else off the bridge.

Funny thing is this other guy in a 6series(who was also stuck) was trying to mock my little benzie for getting stuck on the bridge. Told me to switch to Beamers since my C-class was stuck. :twirleye: I ended up getting off the bridge fine after a truck cleared a trail and the Beamer guy still had his friend trying to help him push his car.

Sad to see there are tons of idiots out there still with their deep dish on their cars. Saw this Cl65 with probably 21" HREs still on his car get stuck. His friends pushed his car all the way off the bridge and when i got off the bridge i saw the car at Marine/Cambie abandoned on the curb.

Alright finished with my little rant but on another note. DRIVE ONLY IF YOU HAVE TO!! OTHERWISE JUST STAY HOME!!!!!

Pft. This isn't enough snow yet. When I'm crashing through drifts that put snow over the roof, I'll be happy.

CYPRESS HERE I COME!

lgman 12-14-2008 02:12 AM

I was just there couple hours ago. Couldn't agree more!

Harvey Specter 12-14-2008 02:43 AM

mmmk 12-14-2008 07:21 AM

I just got to work in New West from East Van. Roads are totally drivable (-3 degrees so it's icy out there)...however I did have a hard time driving up a circular ramp onto the roof-top parking lot on my building.

Drove with stock tires at about 65%.

cdizzle_996 12-14-2008 07:33 AM

Mission is completely bare, we got zero snow last night.
