The praries are a different type of cold it's way drier. That's not to say -45 with W/C isn't cold but that same -45 here would feel way worse. If you dress for it it's fine. This is coming from a kid who grew up in Regina and would play outside for hours in stupid cold weather and walk uphill both ways on my way to school. :)

Gachinto 12-15-2008 09:53 AM

Haven't snowed again on WW, VERY cold though!

BeeBeeAhn 12-15-2008 09:57 AM

God dammit. I wish i were a fat chick right now. Well almost. At least i'd have more fat to keep me warm. i spent most of the night curled up in a ball half asleep. and then i stretch out this morning and the rest of my bed is FREEZING.

>.<

Kotatsu

BeeBeeAhn 12-15-2008 11:00 AM

i turned the heat on so one side of my room is really nice and toasty..but the other side (where my bed is) is still cold. It's retarded since i don't have a big room.

I think i shall go buy one of those portable heaters later and then sit in front of it all day. Having really craptastic circulation doesn't help at all. hmm..maybe my toes will fall off

o.o

Electric blankets are available here... My mom has one. Just go look around Wal-Mart/Superstore/big box retailer or something.

I shall.

BeeBeeAhn 12-15-2008 11:15 AM

Shhhh i just woke up and i'm half starved. I blame the lack of food.

and i'm gonna go see if I can find those electric blankets in walmart.

ecchiecchi 12-15-2008 11:20 AM

electric blanket...mmmmm

bit paranoid though, fire hazard much?

BeeBeeAhn 12-15-2008 11:36 AM

^ good point. I'm still gonna go get one though. i'll test it out and let you know if it ends up lighting my bed on fire.

Presto 12-15-2008 11:44 AM

My place is freezing because I haven't turned on the heat yet. I just put on more clothing, and if i'm just sitting around watching TV, i'll drape myself with a blanket. For sleeping, I just add another couple blankets to my bed, and i'm nice and toasty. When I wake up the next, frosty morning, I just slip into a hot shower to get clean and warmed up for the morning. :)

now the problem is,

How did you manage to get out of a warm bed, walk to a bathroom, and turn on the shower in freezing tempeture?

I've used the Japanese ones and I can say with confidence they pose no fire hazard at all. Don't know if I can say the same thing about the Wal-mart kind though.

I'm less than 10ft from the shower, and 'freezing' is just relative. I assure you, there's no frost in my room when I wake up in the morning :)

I expected the same, but getting out of a 30 degree C bed into single digit room temp is bad.

I had to keep my clothes right by my pillow to do that :haha:

Ivan Petrovich 12-15-2008 12:55 PM

I have to wake up for work at about 5am.. crisp coldness wakes you up really well.

I underwent this conditioning when I was a kid where I took ice cold showers and then ran until my body was hot again. Might be a good idea to try that again.

muteki 12-15-2008 02:45 PM

Holy crap, it's so cold >_<
Having a huge window in your room doesn't seem to help the situation either.

Doesn't matter if it's Japanese or from Wal-mart. Both made in China.

Not always, if it's authentic it's usually made in Japan. XD
