Canadian college/university transfer - Admission - Simon Fraser University

Quote:

Admission from a Canadian college or university
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

You must have successfully completed 24 units of transferable post-secondary course work and may transfer up to a maximum of 60 units toward your degree program. If you have completed fewer than 24 units you will be required to meet the high school admission requirements.

If you are not in good standing or have a GPA of less than 2.00 ( 60%) , you will not be admitted.

In addition to the general and program-specific admission requirements (listed below), you must meet our English Language and Literacy and Quantitative and Analytical Skills requirements. If you do not meet these requirements on your college or university work, we may request your high school transcript.

We will assess possible transfer credit only after we have received your admission application. We may request that you provide detailed course outlines, which should include:

a statement of course objective(s)
the duration/number of weeks (excluding final exam period)
hours per week of lecture (laboratory / tutorial / seminar / studio work) and the hours per week of required open laboratory work or open studio work
the method of evaluation and grading
the textbook(s) used
the amount of credit/units earned

when u get into SFU your gpa resets but u keep the credits that u transfered...

I'm trying to sell one of my textbooks and today some girl emailed me that she's interested in buying it, but asks what is the ISBN on it.

I don't see why should would need to know that information. If she's interested, setup a meeting time and done deal.

Any of you guys encountered something like this =/?

my last two semesters were $700+ each. This semester is less than $300 :fullofwin:

How big on average are most classes? Also, are the "optional" study guides actually helpful for your studies? Cause I don't want to blow a few hundred a dollars on these if they won't help me.

Thanks all :D

Meowjin 08-30-2011 11:02 PM

study guides = useless, imo use the math/psych/english/etc centers that are free tutors. That shit got me good grades.

Get it after the week is done, attend classes and figure out which ones are actually optional, try googling some of the textbooks in pdf. files and save money!

tgill 09-05-2011 12:57 PM

I have a lab for the first class of one my courses this semester... anyone know if profs generally expect you to attend the first class if its a lab?

RAYClovis 09-05-2011 06:56 PM

Mmm, best way for a Langara student to dump the old textbooks to the newcomers?

muteki 09-05-2011 07:15 PM

There's a Buy & Sell section in the Bulletin Board on myLangara.
Or you can try posting it up on the FB group/wall postings.

BaoTurbo 09-05-2011 09:24 PM
