Anyone have info on when you can withdraw from courses and how much you get back in terms of money? I remember seeing sometime that goes like, by this date you get 80% back, by the next week you get 50% back, etc.

muteki 08-10-2011 08:33 PM

It's like 80% within the first week, that's it.

TOS'd 08-10-2011 08:35 PM

Hmm, dunno if I should stick with 5 or else drop one now. Is it worth it to test the waters during the first week but lose 20% if i decide to drop?

misterblu 08-10-2011 08:56 PM

im probably gonna see if my retail job would give me like 3.5 hrs of work for my break days LOL. then book it back to my classes fml. since langara to rc is like 20 mins

BillyBishop 08-10-2011 09:02 PM

20%... how much does one course cost, typically?
Personally, I don't think you can gauge much from the first week alone. Decide now is my advice.

I'm not looking forward to Mondays... 6 hours straight of calculus, bio lab, then chem.

TOS'd 08-10-2011 09:06 PM

^ damn my mondays and wednesdays, at the moment, are 6 hours straight. stats, accounting, taxation.

If i am to drop a course, it would be one of the above 3, ive never done 6 hours of courses in a row before so I dont know what to expect...

BillyBishop 08-10-2011 09:14 PM

I've done 4hrs in a row... 6 will be new to me. Thankfully it's only for the one day.

Fridays I only have one class... physics 0830-1020. I guess it's good for me so I don't sleep away my Friday lol.

muteki 08-10-2011 09:33 PM

I've done 6 hours before and it's pretty tiring, even more so if it the courses you mentioned. If you have a fun elective or class thrown in there, it might not be so bad, but still, it's 6 hours non-stop.
1/2 days is hard to say, so it's better to just drop it before losing the 20%

Referring to my 3 courses or Boundless's?

muteki 08-10-2011 10:10 PM

Both, unless they're mostly lower level then it's no problem.
Anything in the 1st/2nd year is pretty slack and easy and you can easily do well with minimal effort.

I now feel insulted. Thanks SC.

Eh? I didn't mean to insult you, sorry. =[ But the load is much, much lighter than 3rd and 4th year. That's all I meant. Most people only do 2-4 courses then. 5 is almost impossible.

Honestly though, if you're working then 4 courses is probably ideal, you don't want to kill your GPA with 5 courses unless they're electives or you have easy instructors.
Just pre-plan your courses and instructors.

Ah, well all 5 of my courses will be business focused, not really any elective ones. Mix of 1st/2nd yr courses. I might just drop one to be safe.

Semester Course Schedule - by week view (unavailable at this time)

dignatas 08-11-2011 08:42 PM

Last day to drop courses (before 2100 hours) without a notation on student
transcripts, and for 80% refund (minus non-refundable, non-transferable commitment
fees) of tuition fees and 100% LSU fees is Sep 12, 2011. No refund beyond this date.
