PM Solid Penguin for questions or go in store and talk to the full-timer there, he's not bad.
Did you mean the only Sportchek in BC, not only place in BC? I've seen the Nexus protective and 1000 skates at various LHS in Vancouver.

My bad, only Sport Chek in BC for that product. So for the people looking for say Nexus elbows at other stores such as Metro, it won't be there

Marine's grand opening sale from Oct 11th-15th
Vapor X7.0 Sr. Skates $349.99
Plus first 50 people on 11th gets a $25 gift card.
And no mentioning of not being able to use a team assist coupon with it.

So $349.99-20% (team assist coupon) - $25 (free gc if u get there early enough) = $288.59 tax included for a $700 skate...+ your team card you get the 5% kick back at the end of the year.

Just a heads up for u guys....sizes will go FAST!
Other stores will NOT price match

I should check them out and see if they want to deal on a new set of Vaughn pads.
I can't do the hockey shop anymore, other than their inline stuff. The guys that work their have personalities like tree trunks, and their speed is constantly set to "sloth". They take 3 months worth of blade off when they sharpen, and charge a fortune for jersey alterations or logos. Their regular pricing is on the high end at the best of times, while a blow out sale to them is Luongo gear for half off. Time to see if someone else wants to appreciate the $1500 - $2000 that I spend every season on new goalie items...

Their inline deparment is awesome though. The dude upstairs has always helped me out, and is a big reason why I really started to enjoy playing that sport. Cheers to that guy!

That's an unreal deal! And I thought getting them for 499 during F&F was good enough

And topic change:

Dear God digital palms are so nice. I just recently sent in my 4-Rolls to Ralph at Nash Sports in Ontario (apparently a lot of places including NHL equipment managers get their supplies from there).

What I got done were digital palms (previously were clarino), and replaced the gussets with mesh.

It's a bit expensive (about 120 after everything), so I only suggest people who are attached to their high-end gloves to go and do it. But man the quality is top-notch. And that feel!

If you can find a way to ship your gloves out there for cheap (or hitch them along with a friend/relative heading back to Ontario), you can definitely knock that price down.

Oh, and I didn't know that repalming gets rid of "that glove smell". Absolutely no smell handling them anymore!

There's not much you can do aside from steam cleaning the inside (which may ruin the skate, I'm not sure). What kind of liner is it? Microfiber? Clarino? The Hydramax type from Bauer? If it's anything other than clarino you might be SOL.

On another note: does anyone know if Sport Chek sells goalie skate runners (Reebok)?

On my RBK 9K's, I soak them in water. Drain and soak again.
I do this 3 or 4 times and use my thumbs to squeeze the water out of the sides and heel of the skates. Then I hang the skates to let the remaining water drip out but even then the water is still brownish.

Cousin just got there. 25 dollar gc is for Saturday fyi

Edit: cousin also updated me, says manager is saying you CANNOT stack team assist coupons on top of the discount. I'm aware that $350 is already 50% off, but 288 tax in would've been so much better.

You can try arguing, but cousin says the manager is being pretty firm. Coupon it self is so vague. Says "includes items already marked down" but follows up with "cannot be combined with any other offer or discount". That second part is precisely for times like this.

gotta try the odd sportchek locations that aren't so busy, also maybe sportmart as well as some of them carry higher end stuff. other than that you're SOL. get the new one.9. supposedly closer to the one95 than the one100s were
