That's what happens when you have a soft cap, the NBA owners could fix it if they want by changing to a hard cap but they won't.

maybe they can pick up david lee on the cheap to replace bogut

Ditto.
No one shred a tear for bench warmers when they get dropped or trade like chips to accommodate the big pieces.

Nlkko 07-05-2016 12:19 PM

I love soft cap. A terrible team shouldn't be allowed to repeatedly tank for a few years to win several lottery and become great again (Cleveland did anyways). A soft cap allows teams with committed owners and managers making smart decisions to keep a great franchise winning.

OKC made a dumb ass decision (Harden) and they deserve to not win. They could have been a dominating franchise but instead thanks to their smart ass decision ended up being the permanent runner-ups. Plus their fans are fucking annoying (personal beef  ).

Is D. Wade taking his talents to Cleveland? Hmmmm. :considered:

The Cavaliers followed Dwyane Wade on Twitter, then social media had a meltdown | cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Twitter is the No. 1 news app on iTunes. It's quickly becoming the No. 1 investigative app of the NBA thanks to the Dwyane Wade-to-Cleveland talk.

There is no shortage of circumstantial evidence that Wade and his buddy LeBron James will team up again, this time with the Cavaliers. From Twitter to Facebook posts by the son of Austin Carr, the information is there for the taking.

Good luck interpreting it.

On Monday, Wade, who apparently wasn't happy with the Heat's latest contract offer, posted this nugget:

Relationships are important people!

— DWade (@DwyaneWade) July 4, 2016

What relationships? The one between Wade and Pat Riley? The one between Wade and LeBron? Who knew?

pastarocket 07-05-2016 01:03 PM

Correction. D.Wade wants a 2 year, 50 million contract from the Heat. Chicago is interested in Wade. Cavaliers cannot offer that much money to sign Wade given that they don't have the cap space. They can only give a 3.4 million mid level exception to Wade.

Dwyane Wade wants $50M over two years, leaving Miami Heat offer short

Dwyane Wade's representatives have told teams that the All-Star shooting guard is seeking a deal worth around $50 million over two years, currently leaving the salary cap-strapped Miami Heat short, sources told ESPN.com.

The Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls, in addition to the Heat, continue to be in talks with Wade, but Denver and Chicago both have more cap space than Miami.

The Heat recently raised their offer to two years and approximately $40 million

Will OKC offer a contract extension to Westbrook or trade him?
I think that Russell is not gonna sign an extension given that the league's salary cap is going up to over 100 million after this upcoming season.
:considered:

Oklahoma City Thunder mull options with Russell Westbrook

One option the team is considering is attempting to renegotiate and extend the contract of Westbrook before he can become a free agent after next season, sources told ESPN.

If Westbrook chooses not to extend his contract this summer, multiple league executives told ESPN they believe the Thunder will consider fielding trade offers for Westbrook.

In the wake of Durant's departure, however, the Thunder were planning to take some time before making roster decisions.

With Durant going to the Golden State Warriors, the Thunder can make some moves to free cap space to keep Westbrook long term. The All-Star guard is slated to earn $17.8 million this season, is eligible to add up to $8 million to his contract and can add years to the deal and take himself off the free agent market in 2017.

Golden State is looking to sign a veteran from the bargain bin. Ray Allen?

Warriors agree to deal with David West, seek other bargains - San Francisco Chronicle

Imagine the salt/hate if Ray Allen actually joins GSW LOL, Curry, Allen, Thompson, KD, Draymond, 3 point chuck party

dlo 07-05-2016 02:06 PM

russell is gonna leave or get traded lol, that team will not be able to win a championship in years.. and they wont tank purposedly either, sounds like end of an era to me

whitev70r 07-05-2016 04:01 PM

Trade Kevin Love for Russell Westbrook to make the finals really interesting!

ray allen is 40 and hasnt played in 2 seasons, he'd be bench warming at best

i bet the nba loves the kd move though, gsw is gonna sell out every stadium they go to

and imagine if wade really does go to cleveland, gsw vs cavs finals will be soooo entertaining :sweetjesus:

Obsideon 07-05-2016 09:07 PM

If Wade signs in Cleveland just skip the season. Setup the All-Star weekend and whichever team wins gets the championship lol.

Nlkko 07-05-2016 10:32 PM

Wade is old as fuck though. Not sure if he'll still be effective.when he doesnt handle the ball.

A lot paper super team looks great (remeber Lakers a few years back). These guys need to learn to play with each other. Will be interesting to see whats up.

I think the two advantages these Warriors have they're in their prime 28 years old or younger (Curry/KD 28 Klay/Green 26) and their shooting and "system" is a perfect fit.
The fit is similar to the 2008 Celtics, Pierce midrange, Ray sniping from beyond the arc and moving around screens, KG defence/rebounding/screener. Rondo unselfish always looked to pass. The last time a superteam won it in the first year.

2012 Lakers Nash and Kobe past their primes, Howard and D'antoni bad fit.
2010 Miami heat spacing and shooting Wade and Lebron aren't snipers and they took "turns".
2004 Lakers Shaq tail end of his prime, Payton and Malone about to retire.

I get what you are saying, but don't you think that GSW already have enough shooters that could potentially hit that "well timed 3"?

GLOW 07-06-2016 09:42 AM

yep, they don't need him, but he's probably thinking that there are teams that will want him for that, or to give a starter rest while keeping the 3 a threat for 5 min or so.

he's reached out to SAS, clips and the cleveland as well
