Can we really say Zetteberg and Datsyuk are having off years? both of these guys have missed close to 20games this year, but their points total is still at a point per game pace. The Detroit system doesn't quite allow injuries to completely take full affect and put the team in the back burner.

Mike Babcock DEMANDS forwards to backcheck and not let up. They have done this with or without the best forwards in the line up. The Wings are a model of team composure and chemistry. They are where they are because of this.

The real truth is the Wings will be a threat come playoff time, but if they dont jump past 8th, they most likely will face a Hawks team who can match them up front with speed. This is where Jimmy Howard has to be up for the task. Once again, he might not need to make the big saves, but needs to be there when it all matters. If he's not, then the Wings could be seeing a 1st round exit from the hawks taking flight and gunning this team.

Pavel Datsuyk has missed only 2 games this season. He has 60 points in 69 games and is on pace for a 68 point season. He had 97 points last year.

Yes thats a off year. Z has missed less than 10 games. They replaced Hossa/Hudler/Samuelson with scrubs like Bertuzzi and Williams. They'll do damage in the playoffs if Howard keeps playing like an all-star.

orange7 03-22-2010 11:20 PM

can't wait till samuelson is back.

He has some good shooting talent.

The above two are reasons why Phoenix might not be the threat they are touted to be. They are great at home, which is the comforting part.

Regardless, Tippet, Brysgalov, Doan and Jovocop all cannot wait to get back into the post season. It will be an interesting one to watch for sure. It seems the guns are all ready to fire come April, so they will be the exciting team to watch for

As for hte Wings, i can't see them finishing in 8th, but higher, 6th place is a likely finish, meaning nucks vs wings are soon to come

I love it though, crosby getting a face full of gloves!!

Howard's gonna win the Calder.

Actually Zetterberg didn't do anything to Crosby at all, Zetterberg was just matched against Cindy all night and bascially shut him down and outplayed him, scoring 2 goals and an assist while Cindy was a -2 :haha:

vid...

Is it just me or was that a clean, shoulder/shoulder hit? He didn't have the puck but I think the hit was good.

AzNightmare 03-23-2010 09:16 AM

Yeah, the hit did look like shoulder to shoulder. Clean to me.
I don't know how the helmet came off so easily... Maybe he wasn't wearing it properly...
cause if an accident (involving the head hitting something) happened, that helmet would have done nothing.

I agree - the only controversial part may have been the fact that it was a blindside hit - Foligno probably didn't see Rinaldo coming.

Foligno didn't even play the puck, so that is a clear penelty. If the ref from the blueline could see that he hadn't played the puck when he was hit, Rinaldo should have seen it too. Isn't that why the penelty was called?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty. I was just commenting on the hit itself.

shawn79 03-23-2010 11:14 AM

punkwax 03-23-2010 12:13 PM
