Lu played like shit. Although Sedins scored they kept trying to pass through traffic tonight, pretty predictable and annoying to watch at times.

Welly had a lot of opportunities. Grabner's been getting a ton, he had better capitalize soon.

Next time.

Hondaracer 03-23-2010 08:10 PM

I think Lu could benefit from a 1 game rest and perhaps some re-focusing with Ian Clarke before the playoffs begin

if we get far enough ahead of the Av's and not close enough to the top 2, i dont see why we couldnt give Lu a night off, the Divison would be pretty much clinched, a win tonight would have helped though

I'm wonder if Lu is playing hurt or is Ian Clarke the issue?

Have you noticed this season, that Lu cheats a lot and a lot of guys know to go to the short side on him?

And what he he thinking with that poke check on Brule's breakaway. Lu was lucky Brule didn't go top shelf on his ass. Too deep in the net means his poke check is useless.

I still say Lu was too deep in his net on the Det shg last game.

Back to the Wellwood thing. I really think he is a player that needs to play more. Get the legs moving and get into a groove.

Last year during the playoffs, Wellwood got more minutes because a few players were playing "under the weather". He played his heart out then, just like he did the last couple of games.

Wellwood is a very talented but streaky player. Look at his junior stats and you will see he will have an average season followed by a very good season.

But on the Nucks, he is always in AV's doghouse and it's tough for him to put up any good numbers when he plays 10 minutes a game on the thirdline with players like Bernier and Glass.

Wellwood has looked a lot better playing with Demitra when he came back from his injury. Same thing playing with Hansen, Raymond and Sammulson. He just needs to be given a chance to get decent minutes playing with guys who can keep up/play with him.

Put him back on a line with Glass and Bernier and you now have the "checking" line again.

Gumby 03-23-2010 09:53 PM

Wellwood definitely has the skills to be a 2nd line guy, but he does lack the size... It's (un)fortunate that with the depth on the Canucks' forwards, Wellwood's bumped down to the 3rd/4th line.

Lu, seriously needs to step it up or we're going to struggle during play-offs

Wellwood also gained back a bit of the weight he lost over the summer over the season. I remember him saying that he has more energy at his current weight than his "lean" weight.

....QUICK SOMEBODY GIVE HIM A BURGER!

Weird situation in the USHL Playoffs. Teams getting ready for a shootout when all of a sudden the 2 goalies fight :haha:

Greenstoner 03-24-2010 09:45 AM

hahaa, i love to see goalies fight each other !!!!!!!!!!! i dont know how it just started when they are so far from each other

AzNightmare 03-24-2010 09:53 AM

This was before shootout?!! LOL
So did they send out the backups for the shootout then?
Those two goalies were probably too tired to continue on with a shootout afterwards.

Apparently this is the 3rd time these 2 goalies have fought each other in the last year, so I guess they don't like each other and just threw down before the shootout lol.

Both goalies got tossed from the game and the backups had to come in for the shootout.

murd0c 03-24-2010 10:16 AM

You can see both backups streaching in the back ground when both of them are fighting

Expresso 03-24-2010 11:12 AM

Look like Raycroft is going to be starting tonight.

They need to get Ian Clark back here to work with Lu!

Hondaracer 03-24-2010 11:24 AM

Ian Clarke in van on Friday and through the playoffs

shit From now on anytime a fight breaks out on the ice i want a cameraman to jump onto the ice! also, i want pierre mcguire's big bald head to be there with a microphone jammed in right between the 2 fighters while the go.

That was actually a camera on the linesman's helmet. The NHL should have camera's on the linesmen and refs helmets too so we can see what they see.

TRD Rs200 03-24-2010 11:47 AM

shit, we sucked ever since bieshit is back in the lineup

Greenstoner 03-24-2010 11:58 AM

you should be happy Bernier is not on the line up, i said this probably 1 or 2 months back... but CRS didnt like my comments..

Bernier was ok in the last few seasons, but clearly this seasons he looked lost on the ice and he sucked !!!

i also said Canucks starts winning when Bieska was out due to injury and there were few people disagree with me :( Look at what is happening now... but i rather Bieska be on the ice rather than Albert....

Bieksa is the least of the team's worries. I guess you rather have Alberts playing.

MR_BIGGS 03-24-2010 12:09 PM

Canucks will be fine. Luongo will get his swagger back, most likely the Canucks will win the division and stay in third place. I really really want to see the Hawks/Wings first round matchup.

invader 03-24-2010 01:05 PM

I'm looking forward to a bounce back game today
