sweet playoffs starting weds :)

The Sedins will produce in the playoffs, so no worries about our top line.

It will be fun seeing which one of our secondary players will step up:
- If Demitra wants a contract (anywhere in the league), he'll need to somehow find that desire he had during the Olympics.
- Can Raymond use his speed to escape checks?
- Can Samuelsson score a couple of clutch goals like he did in Detroit?
- Will Bieksa's shots start hitting the net?

Tampa has the talent to become a powerhouse; they just need to find the right coach and coaching staff. Look what happen in Phoenix with a coaching change.

My prediction is the Canucks will win this series in 5 games... and the one they lose will probably be in OT.

If Canucks play like they did againts Calgary no one can stop us.

Theres alot of talk around the league about who should win the Hart Trophy. Maybe its because im more interested in it since Sedin is in the race. But who do u guys think should win? Remember Hart Trophy means Most Valuable to its team, not Best player in the league(Obviously its Ovechkin i believe)

Anyways Henrik should win because without him, does Burrows, Daniel, and Sammuellson have there career years? He also proved critics wrong when they said he can only play with his brother. The only other canidates id be happy beating Henrik would be either Miller or Bryzgalov.

Some people are saying Canucks in 7, I'm leaning towards 5 maybe 6 for the Canucks. The good news for the Canucks is the travel time is nothing and there's no time zone issues so they should be fresh when they head to LA.

He couldn't.

Sedin wins the Art Ross with 112 points in 82 games, becoming the first Canucks player to win the hardware; and he earned it, with a 4-point game in the Vancouver Canucks' season finale on Saturday night. If coffee is for closers, then Henrik and Sid should be swimming in java.

It's natural to feel that what Sedin did and what Crosby did should elevate their standing for MVP consideration, as opposed to what Alex Ovechkin(notes) didn't do in his final regular-season game against the Boston Bruins on Sunday, which is tally a point -- he was 0-0-0 in 25:55 of ice time in the overtime shootout loss, finishing a minus-1 with five shots on goal.

Even though he played fewer games than both (thanks in part to a pair of suspensions), it was unfathomable before the season that Ovechkin would fall short of both the point and goal-scoring titles. But that's why preseason predictions aren't worth their bandwidth most of the time (see Melrose, Barry ... and then laugh. A lot.)

What the Art Ross does for Sedin is give him a major, major chip to play in the Hart Trophy debate.

The award means something -- 5 of the last 6 Hart winners won the Ross. The Art Ross earned the MVP for Joe Thornton(notes) over Jaromir Jagr(notes) in 2007, for example. Jason Botchford of The Province makes a dazzling, compelling case why Sedin's season is one for the history books:

I am voting for Henrik because he finished the season with 112 points, and no one had more. Alex Ovechkin has never had more. Sidney Crosby has had more only once. Henrik did it despite being 38th among forwards in per-game ice time, and 43rd in average power play ice time among forwards.

I am voting for Henrik because Daniel Sedin(notes) broke his foot, missed 18 games and, in those 18 games, Henrik scored 10 goals. I am voting for Henrik because he plays in the Western Conference, and, simply, it's better.

I am voting for Henrik because the Hart goes to the "player adjudged most valuable to his team" and if you take Henrik off the Canucks, Ryan Kesler(notes) bumps up to the No. 1 line and their No. 2 centre is Kyle Wellwood(notes).

Ken Campbell of The Hockey News previously made the case why his season is a glorified collection of secondary assists.

(According to Behind The Net, Sedin averaged 1.27 secondary assists for every 60 minutes of 5-on-5 hockey through 80 games; Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks was at 0.78.)

As for the Rocket Richard Trophy for most goals, it'll be shared by Crosby and Steve Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning with 51 goals each. Crosby came within 13 seconds of winning the Richard for the first time, but Stamkos scored an empty netter in a 3-1 win over the Florida Panthers.

Said Stamkos to Lightning Strikes:

"Pretty surreal to do it in my second year in the league and share it with a player like Crosby is pretty special," Stamkos said. "And to win it without a guy named Ovechkin in the mix is pretty special too. He's such a dominant scorer."

Did Stamkos care he tied Crosby with an empty-netter?

"No," he said. "All those posts I had against Carolina (three), it was bound to happen like that. I'll take it either way."

Sigh ... empty-net goals. There was outcry from some corners of the NHL when it appeared Ovechkin would win the Richard with five empty-net goals. Well, Stamkos had three and Crosby had one; should that become the official tie-breaker for the award?

Enough can't be said about what Stamkos and Crosby have done here. Steven for erasing every single doubt, criticism or disappointment from his freshman campaign with one of the most impressive second-seasons in recent NHL history. Sid for once again taking a facet of his game where he was average (by his standards), working his ass off and becoming an elite player in that acquired skill.
