Well, technically they could get you for "driving without due care". But I know I've driven while eating with two hands in the past and steering with my knees. :mamoru:

lol guilty as charged here too.

you can get ticketed for fidgeting with your ipod/mp3 player as well right?

haha my bad, what if you have a passenger and your ipod is plugged in and say you get pulled over. would the officer blame the driver? even though the passenger was the one fidgeting with it?

I've been using a Bluetooth headset for the past few months in preperation of this law. I'm really glad that this came into effect and it just wont be a ticket but points on your drivers license as well :). They need to send a message out there that this is serious because there alot of people out there that don't pay enough attention when they're driving

so who is ACTUALLY going to be using bt handsfree starting today?

Soundy 01-01-2010 11:13 AM

I've been using it for years... ain't no big thang.

installerz 01-01-2010 11:15 AM

I am setting up my wife's phone today. Mostly because she sucks at driving, but partially because I want her to not crash the car anymore!

Alatar 01-01-2010 11:20 AM

I've been using my headset for a while, and yeah, it confuses a lot of people around you when it looks like you're talking to yourself and shopping or just walking around a mall.

If you have a passenger, and they're the one who's playing with the mp3 player, etc. it should be fairly obvious. Generally, when someone's fiddling with texting or songs or watching movies, etc. etc. their driving becomes a little more erratic, cautious, and overall "stupid." At that point it becomes obvious to the officer, and isn't just a matter of seeing you with the actual device.

Gh0stRider 01-01-2010 11:20 AM

got my jawbone, but have yet to actually use it.

alex.w *// 01-01-2010 11:24 AM

imo i think its too much of a hassle if you drive everyday and make a phone call once in awhile

CP.AR 01-01-2010 11:31 AM

I actually prefer talking using a handsfree, my arm gets tired after a while of holding the phone :D

SaviorSelf_666 01-01-2010 12:00 PM

Why are people allowed to have pets that sit on the drivers lap? I've seen that a lot, wouldn't that be more of a distraction since the pet can be unpredictable?

!Aznboi128 01-01-2010 12:04 PM

I've been using my car's bt so it's no biggy

But for some people its a big change
And I got to admit the pets while driving thing has to stop, they are un predictable and if there was an accident the airbag would push the dog right to the owner's face....

Handsfree ftw. Car integration is the shiz.

rsx 01-01-2010 12:41 PM

I'm just going to buy a holder thingy for my iphone. It basically doubles as a GPS, no?

Are you allowed to pull over to the side of the road or highway shoulder to answer a call? Or is that considered as breaking the law since you are in the car and it is still running.

skyxx 01-01-2010 01:38 PM

The answer is Yes you can do that. You just can't drive ei; foot on the accelarator etc etc). Put it in to park when you pull over hazards on hand brake etc etc, but you have voice mail right? Why not use that? :)

keitaro 01-01-2010 02:16 PM

bought the jawbone jb2 plus last week in prep for today. Works good.

spoon.ek9 01-01-2010 02:18 PM

Just set up my cars BT and it works fairly well so far. Only annoying thing is you can't have a private conversation if somebody is in the car since the talking comes through the speakers. Oh wells it will do for now.

optiblue 01-01-2010 04:03 PM

using the car's bluetooth now... LAME!! I say for the month of jan, I drive as much as I can with a cell phone in hand just to see how many times I get pulled :)

illicitstylz 01-01-2010 04:49 PM

basically just one additional valuable left in the car.

at least for me, since I only use my BT headset in the car...

azzurro32 01-01-2010 04:55 PM

This law is good and all, but I didn't realize how much of a pain in the ass it is till today
