i was expecting at least december to start snowing lol

Inaii 11-07-2009 03:27 PM

Damn, shouldn't have thrown out that extra set of wheels I had. I need winter tires... $220 for my set... thats good right?

saveth 11-07-2009 03:36 PM

i put mine on yesterday to break in the tires. I guess ill leave them on until the winter season is over.

I don't care if you have AWD or not. Summer tires do not belong on the road during winter, even if there's no snow on the ground. Summer tires are only effective at certain temperature ranges, and you'll barely see those ranges during winter.

Besides, AWD only helps you get going. It will do shit all for turning and braking in the snow.

Sorry, i meant All Seasons, not summer. Dunno what i was thinking when I was typing that. Bridgestone Potenza RE92A M+S All-Season.

ditto, didn't want to be putting them on in this kind of weather, and have been mocked for it ever since and now some people i know can't find anything in stock for their sizing :o

TRDood 11-07-2009 05:51 PM

i will wait till snow actually hits the ground, then i will roll out my ghetto time attacked steelies!

Spaceship_coupe 11-07-2009 06:24 PM

Got the winters on the beater already, but I'll be putting on the winters on the "fun" car. Thanks for the heads up Shoei.

:D

crosses fingers...

Last week they forecast snow for this weekend, and look - no snow.

Its forecast to be +6C, so any snow will melt as son as it hits the pavement.

Regardless its time to get off the summers. At those temps summer rubber turns into hockey pucks.

alex.w *// 11-07-2009 07:15 PM

for all other lowered car people

no point in getting winters if the car is low as hell, and possibly be high centered

StylinRed 11-07-2009 07:18 PM

whistler has like 30" of snow coming down

124Y 11-07-2009 07:56 PM

FML my blizzaks won't be here until the 30th!! :twirleye:

Those are still supposed to be hockey pucks, according to lots of Subaru owners on NASIOC.

I'm still searching for used set of 215/45R18 snow tires on Craigslist. Stock wheels 18" FML. :haha:

hirevtuner 11-07-2009 10:18 PM

i'm putting on my dunlop graspics w/stock rims next weekend just in time

bcrdukes 11-07-2009 10:29 PM

Environment Canada is predicting a strong weather system may potentially blanket the area with 60 centimetres of snow.

hopefully snowboarding season comes early!

Ikkaku 11-08-2009 12:16 AM

FML my parents took the ES300 to calgary ... so now I either use the celica which is slightly lowered or take our c240, which i'm semi-paranoid about driving in the snow (not because it's RWD, but because my dad would freak out if anything happened to it)

seriously the potenza re92s succcck. They are great tires for dry weather but even when the roads are wet(not raining), when I do a launch with traction control off, the tires spin like they're bald.

Ikkaku 11-08-2009 12:54 AM

lol i just checked the weathernetwork

next sat ... possible chance of snow... and it says up to 10+ cm :lol oh snapp

edit: actually it says sunday morning may recieve 1-3cm of snow

k, ill look into some tires. best to do tires w/ rims/steelies. or just tires and get them mounted on stock rims?

The_AK 11-08-2009 01:11 AM

god damnit...
anyone running chains?

orange7 11-08-2009 01:21 AM

it's good to see ppl on Revscene going from summer mode to winter mode. Too bad shitty translink doesn't give a crap except for reducing services.

Sooo... when is the city of vancouver going to salt the road? I'm always paranoid when there is salt on the road. Salt -> rust especially when it's too cold to wash cars.
