First time out to Wycliff (Ever). What a gorgeous ride... err drive... err whatever you want to do. Pretty happy my speed is picking up. Finished it off with a lap around Stanley . Ton's of riders out there today!

I was in Steveston with gf and our dog. Place was packed on the sidewalk and road. There was a ton of kids doing easter egg hunting as well. Lots of cyclists and dogs being walked.

^^^ Oh I could be in for that. My first Century ride, and with a group non the less. COuld be killer, especially if it's marked because I still don't know my way around this city!! haha. Thanks for posting.

dat_steve 04-03-2013 05:30 PM

was anyone here just at stanley park around5ish on a white bike wearing a black backpack and black and orange jacket?

thought the bike looked familiar and i wanted to yell "REVSCENE?!" but i held back

604CEFIRO 04-03-2013 05:47 PM

I wouldnt worry about getting lost... there will be plenty of ppl to follow

but it is a brevet / randonneur ride... meaning u'll be carrying a card, going to check points and getting it stamped etc.

u then have to hand it in at the end and u get a finishers pin.

If u have anything to worry about, it may be fenders LOL ... because this weekend looks like it may be hellish. 100km w/ no fenders is asking for mud butt

i'd be more worried about all the pissed off cyclists behind you than mud butt

I was kind of thinking the same thing. haha. MEC bike fit/fender combo? The rain may kill me drive pretty quickly, we'll see.

bcrdukes 04-03-2013 09:20 PM

Umm...yeah. Gonna pass on this one. :fuckthatshit:

They do both

Their fenders aren't bad. I see a lot of cyclists with their fenders on.

I like the Crud ones from PBK

dat_steve 04-03-2013 09:46 PM

i find fenders can only do so much if its raining/mudddy. My face was covered in dirt and mud doing the RTCC even when riding behind guys with fenders.
Make sure you have your glasses on...street gunk in the eye is no bueno

604CEFIRO 04-04-2013 04:15 AM

If you're so worried about people behind you, crud fenders aren't the best as they shake left and right while you ride and are too thin to cover the spray coming out the back

They do a good job covering the top of the tire so your ass doesn't get wet.

I have these. they're the most attractive out of the bunch but do not help for those behind you

For that, you need something wider, more rigid like sks raceblade long version, and most ppl will also cut a water bottle vertically in half and zip tie it to the back bottom of the fender for full coverage.
