Babcock not ready to announce Luongo as starter 2/22/2010 5:00:00 PM CTVOlympics.ca According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Roberto Luongo will get the start in net for Canada against Germany in Tuesday's qualification round game, replacing Martin Brodeur. However in an interview with Vancouver radio station THE TEAM 1040, Canada's head coach Mike Babcock was not yet ready to make that announcement Posted via RS Mobile |

He didn't watch the superbowl I guess, he would've learned that sometimes risks pay off |
Lu is in one net while Brodeur and Fleury are sharing the other net. Lu is starting or else he wouldn't have his own. The same thing happened during the practice prior to Babs announcing Lu as the starter for game 1 |
GinoRedaTSN Fleury is now alternating drills with Brodeur. That's usually a very good indication that Luongo will be the starter. |
That quote is very misleading regarding 1040, nothing he said implied he wouldn't use luongo, he was just holding his cards to his chest as any good coach would Posted via RS Mobile |
IT'S YOURS LU!! I BELIEVE IN YOU!! |
It sucks to lose but at least the game brought more attention to hockey. I was on a predominately american forum, and the Canada vs US thread reached 37 pages in 2 days. A typical post: Quote:

Sadly, I read that NBC showed figure skating rather than USA vs CAN hockey because the Winter Olympics is 1 of the 3 most watched events by women. And more women watch figure skating than hockey. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puc...urn=nhl,219149 |
Well NBC also didn't want to show hockey on the main network because they said they couldn't switch between events. I think the only game that's going to be on the main network will be the gold medal game. |

Women Hockey Can 3 - 0 Fin (end of 2nd period) |
Looks like it's going to be Canada vs. the US on Thursday. |
Babcock is a fucking cock. Why's he delaying putting Lu in net. Babcock needs to stop sucking Brouders cock and put Luongo in net for the rest of the Olympics... simple that that. |

I think Babbock's decision to let Brodeur start was smart but to kept letting him play was dumb. |
:D Who didn't see this one coming? |
^ funny funny shiet right there. - it's all good, russia's got no defense so we'll be fine. |

is it just me or does lude_s like totally hate luongo? to the point that he fails anyone that has anything good to say about the guy lol hes not better than marty fool, but u gotta give a brother a chance |

they hate luongo then when hes on Canada's team, he gets the praise, the very same fucktards who dont kno dick all about Broduer and his place in Canadian hockey history I stand by Broduer and what he has done, yea he shit the bed, hes still no1 in my mind, the devils are no where near where they are this season without Broduer. I will admit myself that he shit hte bed pretty bad, especially that 4th goal where Pronger coulda done the job to clear the net/make the play. Im all for Luongo starting 2molo, but I also do not disagree with some people to give Broduer the chance to redeem himself i end this post with this CANADA WILL WIN AS ONE FOR THE TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FREE |
u know instead of arguing back and forth about luongo and brodeur, maybe canada just needs to do what TORTS said when he was pissed off after a game in NY "play fucking harder" LOL!! technically it shouldn't matter who's in net if canada gets like 50 shots on goal and executes properly |

this is why 2002 is different, the collection of players near the bottom 6 forwards were grinders with an offensive mentality. Guys like Mike Peca, Owen Nolan and even Ryan Smyth played KEY roles these type of forwards are missing from the 2010 squad, with the exception of maybe Morrow, the team is just an all star squad I hope for the best regardless becuz we will win double gold in Hockey once again |
