Babcock not ready to announce Luongo as starter

According to a report from Yahoo! Sports, Roberto Luongo will get the start in net for Canada against Germany in Tuesday's qualification round game, replacing Martin Brodeur.

However in an interview with Vancouver radio station THE TEAM 1040, Canada's head coach Mike Babcock was not yet ready to make that announcement

Fucking facepalm. Does this guy not understand that this isn't a best out of 7 series? Everyone, even Brodeur supporters, are saying it's time to put Lu in net.

He didn't watch the superbowl I guess, he would've learned that sometimes risks pay off

Lu is in one net while Brodeur and Fleury are sharing the other net.

Lu is starting or else he wouldn't have his own. The same thing happened during the practice prior to Babs announcing Lu as the starter for game 1

Fleury is now alternating drills with Brodeur. That's usually a very good indication that Luongo will be the starter.

That quote is very misleading regarding 1040, nothing he said implied he wouldn't use luongo, he was just holding his cards to his chest as any good coach would

Well NBC also didn't want to show hockey on the main network because they said they couldn't switch between events. I think the only game that's going to be on the main network will be the gold medal game.

It's things like that, that make Vancouver hockey fans look like simpletons. Luongo *is* getting the start against Germany. Personally I'm going to laugh after they (Canada) win because all you homer fans will be praising Luongo when he displays minimal effort. Canada is going to take their frustrations out on Germany, so I anticipate a pretty one sided affair.

I think what 1exotic meant was after brodeur let in 2 goals in 5 shots, Babcock started to suck Brodeur's cock by kept letting him play.

I think Babbock's decision to let Brodeur start was smart but to kept letting him play was dumb.

technically it shouldn't matter who's in net if canada gets like 50 shots on goal and executes properly

sadly this team can play but one thing is missing, wheres the hard ima in your fuckin face game

this is why 2002 is different, the collection of players near the bottom 6 forwards were grinders with an offensive mentality. Guys like Mike Peca, Owen Nolan and even Ryan Smyth played KEY roles

these type of forwards are missing from the 2010 squad, with the exception of maybe Morrow, the team is just an all star squad

I hope for the best regardless becuz we will win double gold in Hockey once again
