little slow on my reply here.

canada played better from the second period on today (albeit against germany). but even tho they were playing germany, they were working harder than the last 3 games. they werent getting beat to pucks, and there was better puck support. and even better, there seemed to be some chemistry forming with players getting into open areas for passing. the thing that made me happy was seeing hard work along the boards and even abit of cycling.

now as long as we see some dirty work infront of the net getting those dirty goals jamming the puck in, i think we might be ok. you cant always score heatley sniper goals flying up the wing. those are pretty, but the dirty ones get you wins in close games.

bobby lu played decent. no better or worse than brodeur. id like to see him start against russia. if he lets in a couple softies tho, he should be yanked.

its funny how different i hear people talking about the USA game still. generally it seems that casual fans and people who dont know hockey, and most younger people, are all our blaming Brodeur. while older guys and people who play or follow hockey closely see all the errors with the whole team.

and just one more point about brodeurs baseball swing. everyones hating on him because of that play which resulted in the goal. yet no one remembers how that puck just about squeeked thru for an odd man break the other way. if we would have scored on that play and went on to win the game, brodeur would be canada's hero. it really goes to show you how our fans are. one small play the other way and they will hang you or praise you.

Something like that in the NHL will get him suspended for 6-7 games. Worst part is that Lubomir Bartecko had his helmet knocked off as he was hit and his head banged the ice.
It cut open the back of his head and he was bleeding quite badly. Hope he''ll be fine.

any vids of the hit?

go to a bar or a restaurant. $1200 is more than enough to treat you and your friends. XD

I'd never pay $1200 to watch a game live.

I was at PC today, and I over heard some foreigner talk to a stop manager about the gold medal game. And they were talking about prices and stuff, and the foreigner said he's looking to spend around $8000-$10000 per per ticket for him and someone else. And the manager was like, "it's so worth the money, even if Canada doesn't make it in. you can probably still get your money back." And I was like :O

lol, absolutely ridiculous.
To pay so much for something with an unpredictable outcome.
For all you know, the game could be boring as hell with two teams playing super tight defense.
And even then, I would never pay so much to watch something I can enjoy just as much at a bar.

shawn79 02-24-2010 07:12 AM

having Ovechkin, Malkin, Kovalchuk, Gonchar, and Markov on the PP makes luongo he has a pressure gun pointed to his head
but then again if he beats russia.... he wont choke in the playoffs for us :D:D:D:D

People pay for life experiences. Being at a Gold Medal game is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most. Nothing ridiculous about that at all IMO.

Of course it is a lifetime opportunity and I would love to be there as well... Now, would I want to waste 10gs on a tickket? HELL NO.. I'd rather buy a used car for that amount lol

The only reasonable way to go is if you purchased when it went on sale... What are the Face Value for the Gold Medal game anywa?

Greenstoner 02-24-2010 09:09 AM

If you have the ability to afford those ticket then you should be greatful you are living in Vancouver.

Imagine people coming from other countries to support their teams, they had the pay the flights, hotel and other expense + Game Ticket on top !!! :D You have already save about 1-3G already if you really think about it.

I'm a Stanley Cup fan more than the Olympic fan, with the price I wll be paying for 1 olympic ticket, i will probabaly use that to watch 2 playoff games.

murd0c 02-24-2010 09:47 AM

You guys have to remember that the people that are here from europe have the cash to spend that's why tickets are so high. As well it helps there money is worth twice as much so they don't see the big deal either.

Gumby 02-24-2010 11:03 AM

I wouldn't mind losing to Russia if it's a hard-fought game and IF they end up winning gold.

But no matter what happens, I just don't want USA to win gold in hockey.
