PTS - Part Time Studies. So you had to apply for PT and then transfer back over to FT?

That's stupid double charging.

Gerbs 05-05-2018 03:47 PM

I think Part-time was free. Or at least I got transferred for free from FT to PT.

You planning to take FT in Sept? I'm finished my electives and going to be taking the 8 core courses in Sept - Jan. Hopefully 4 courses a semester as night-classes

Tbh, I haven't applied. Probably Jan if anything. I took two positions at two different, but associated start ups. Launch date is planned to be April 2019. Gonna run with it and see how that works. I'm not entirely excited to go back to school anyway

I'm planning to just take it as a night class in Sept/Jan. Honestly no need to finish so quick if your already working. Just finishing up my last electives this summer.

Start up life is awesome. Work/Life balance is great and earning potentials are huge if you have equity in the company. Currently at a digital marketing start-up and it actually inspired me to learn front-end web development and eventually move to everything else. End goal is hopefully found a couple of start ups.

Libs 7005 requires over 1500 pages of reading. It's a trap. Why are Libs courses so time consuming.

Because hipster.

i took 7005! it is a lot of reading.

Gerbs 07-07-2018 01:33 PM

^ not worth it. I have no idea what technology means in that courses context.

bcrdukes 07-07-2018 01:42 PM

Clearly, the course was designed to be taught from a liberal arts perspective, full of nonsense and abstract ideas.

Gerbs 07-07-2018 01:57 PM

I think I struggle to think in that perspective. So much of it is literally why does it fucking matter?!?!?!

The short answer to that is to teach you how to think outside the box, and to be open to different ideas.

With globalization and a much more demanding consumer base, the complexity of today's challenges are far more difficult, compared to, let's say, 10 years ago. I used to think these courses were completely useless, but one day, it all made sense. You'll learn that throughout your career and continuing education.

But part of that comes with being a hipster. :troll:

If you stick around long enough, you may end up being my student @ BCIT and calling me professor. :D

Back in school in 2 weeks and 1 more year to go. Going to take a 3 / 3 / 4 course load in the next 3 semesters.
