BTW does anyone here use the gym? I think I need a gym buddy LOL.

I just started going since last week. So I'm getting back in shape slowly. Kinda sucks going alone and going with someone else motivates you I guess or you get to push each other or train together.

PS: I really need to use the multi quote button next time LOL

Maybe my jokes in the email scared them LOL or they just think I'm a retard. So much for breaking the ice and trying to be nice and trying to make people laugh...

:badpokerface:jokes doesn't work when it comes to teams. I tried to break the ice, and get some of the new people talking..no dice. As for the emailing thing, try emailing a 12 person team and having the only person responding is your friend laughing at the whole team dynamics. My friend also happens to be on the team.

LOL damn.. well that makes me feel better I guess? I thought my team was thinking I must be retarded or creepy?

Is it so bad to break the ice with people and to talk and make new friends LOL. Or maybe it depends on the people too. I think my group partners are stuck up and all. Already hearing terrible stuff about them lol

What program are you in? And how old are you? I'm 19, and it's much easier to break the ice with classmates around my age, the students that are older tend to be more "I'm here to get a job not to dick around with teenagers/young people" so from my own experience you have to show those people that you are capable of holding your own or going above and beyond whats required of you. It sounds kind of dickish but it's how a lot of the people I've met have been.

I have team mates that are unbelievable stuck up and difficult to work with and a few have gotten better... but not all. For those people, just be nice to them, work with them, and be done with them. Or do what I did and threaten them with disciplinary action lol.

Yeah that makes sense. I'm a lot older haha and I think my group members are older too.

I'm in the Forensics program.. so most people are well in their mid 20's. I guess I expected my group partners to at least say Hi back lol. But either I scared them away or something.

I usually am serious when it comes to work, but when I meet new people I love to joke around to get people laughing. I mean I always see students stressed out and down. So I try to just make people smile or laugh even at the most stupidest crap ever.

And honestly who doesn't like to laugh during school. Everyone is always so serious, which is good too. But sometimes people need to let loose for a bit to just have fun talking. It's a good break!

Guess my group members have their own group of friends in their programs so they probably hang with them and all.

^ it's ok! it takes time for people to warm up to others..took about a month max for my class to get to know each other and the tension gone. I don't know who you are but if I ever see you around I'll say hi hahaha!

hahahahaha yeah well if I see someone saying Hi to everyone in the school.. I'll know its you :p

I guess your right I think some people need time to warm up to others. Or they haven't talked enough to feel comfortable I suppose.

!Yaminashi 01-21-2013 02:05 PM

Its normal. People always take a few weeks to warm up to each other. Just wait until you start doing group assignments/projects. The people you hardly talk to now become your family lol

Harryt 01-21-2013 04:23 PM

Yeah but in my case these people are online that I have a major group assignment with well 2 group assignments.

But I emailed out to meet up in person. I think it would be a but harder to communicate via online. And since I can meet up just about anytime at BCIT in the day. It works out better, but I'll see.

I mean it's hard to talk to people, when they don't even reply back to you LOL.

My guess is maybe they are busy with stuff and want to wait till they have more time. Though I don't see how hard it is to just say Hi back. lol...

Yes, the few times I've parked there for my night classes, I see them looking around for cars without tickets.

Are there any part time classes you can take to start earning credits?

maybe some LIBS classes? I know that's what I did.. took the extra LIBS classes I needed and you can take them without having entered a certain program.

Supposed to be a full-time program so I dunno if I can. Either way, I don't plan on taking any courses until Fall, which is when the program is supposed to start.

Of course you can take some part time courses! You just won't have to take the courses you took during the full-time program giving you a free block instead

kiwee 01-22-2013 12:51 AM

^ and in part time format you apparently learn more then full-timers..well for my program that is..

Yeah but if it's a full time program, the term tuition wont go down if you have a credited course, you're just spending more money...

FOREVER 01-22-2013 12:30 PM

^ WTF that's outrageous!!

Harryt 01-22-2013 02:46 PM

Well this is gay.. I emailed BOTH my group partners about 5 days ago. Neither replied and then I find out they are both best friends in the same program.

LOL what are the chances I get partnered up with them? Anyways not sure what else to do? I was trying to break the nice with them and either scared the shit outta them or they really are rude. I heard their set is full of douches anyways...

but yeah.. they both replied to a discussion today too and in fact show up as online. I wouldn't be surprised if they are sitting in a lab together lol. But they don't have 2 mins to spare to email me back? Seems pretty rude....

I know SFU and Langara had students that were fairly chill and easy going to talk too. So far BCIT has given me bad vibes.

TOS'd 01-23-2013 10:32 AM

Just got accepted into program at BCIT for fall.

Since you guys said I could take courses earlier so I dont have to do them later on, I was wondering how do I go about that.

Am I free to register for summer semester if I only applied for a fall full-time program? And if I do finish a course, would part of my tuition fee be credited back to me?

Maybe I can find an equivalent course that will replace the 7am one come fall, that shit is early!

You should be able to register for any part-time equivalent courses no problem. If you do finish the course, tuition will not be credited back to you for the full-time course. You will pay what everybody else pays unfortunately. On the bright side, if you do this, you'll have a lessened course load! :fullofwin:

I suggest opting out of the health plan if you already have one and you're looking to save a little dough.
