Out of curiosity, how far are you in to your studies at SFU and in which field?

J.C 11-18-2013 05:04 PM

referencing above, what is there to do at BCIT other than class :alone:
and i'm guessing there's not many girls there? :alone::alone:

bcrdukes 11-18-2013 05:09 PM

Hang out with TOS'd.

Girls? They're in marketing.

If you want to "do stuff" BCIT isn't the place for it. You go there to get your ass handed to you.

any secret spots i can park for free? :troll:

TeriyakiSawce 11-18-2013 05:38 PM

It is a bit of a walk, but you can park along the street west of Moscrop Secondary.

One of my buddies parks at the Gizeh Shrine. Apparently they have monthly passes for that parking lot, but he said they don't check nor has he gotten a ticket yet.

TOS'd 11-18-2013 06:38 PM

You can hang out with me hanging out with pbrdukes, hes rad! :buttrock:

I can confirm. I was 1 of 15 guys (1 of ~8 who wasn't gay) in a 90+ person program

village dr on wayburne if you can find a spot

meme405 11-19-2013 11:47 AM

Don't know where plumbing is but if it is like carpentry or millwrighting it will be near NE1, which means if you don't mind the walk the safest place to park is actually the Grand Villa Casino. Its like a 5-10 minute walk to get to school.

As for girls the guys above hit it on the head, marketing and interior design. Other than having those two programs in your building the rest of the campus is majority guys.

---

You do not come to BCIT to party. Its not like that at all. You will come, you will be butt raped for two years, then they give you a piece of paper. If you know whats good for you, you will take that piece of paper and never come back. If you like to lash yourself in your free time, you will return to BCIT for a degree. 2 more years of butt hurt and they will give you another piece of paper. Again most people will go get a good job and live happily ever after repressing the memories of their time at BCIT. Some people really like to inflict pain on themselves, these people return for a masters program at BCIT, after they give these people their coveted piece of paper, most of them will start to teach at BCIT because they have no work experience besides school.

true story.

bcrdukes 11-19-2013 12:18 PM

I still have nightmares from my one semester @ BCIT. :okay:

yray 11-19-2013 04:04 PM

!Yaminashi 11-19-2013 04:27 PM

I can attest to butt rape. In my second year of the struggle. No life. OK bye

Currently in my first sem.. Surprised im actually surviving it despite the ridiculous course loads, but next semester is gona be worse..
If you're motivated and not the smartest you'll do well and get by but, if you're not motivated and smart you might just get by, from what I heard its pretty rewarding. Hopefully I'll be able to pull through

Keep at it. First year is definitely the hardest if you are not used to the course load. I finished my 4 years at BCIT and found a job I truly enjoy. It's definitely rewarding after all the hard work you put in.

Enjoy it. I had good times working late with friends. It seems like a pain, but we shared a lot of good times at 3am in the EhPod. I found once you get used to the workload it gets more manageable. This happened in 2nd year for me, I just knew what to expect so it really helped out.

I feel like I have said this before, but here goes again. My diploma program started with 122 student, less than 70 of those graduated in the designated 2 year period. About 10 more graduated in 3 years (if you fail a class you cannot make it up 95% of the time, so you end up falling a year behind). So you can very easily fail out or fall behind if you do not put in the time, but I think most people manage to get a handle of it and survive the storm.

My program had atleast a handful of degree graduates from other universities, ranging from UVIC, to UBC, to mcgill and UofT. They all said that BCIT was way harder. The real testament was the fact that these people had graduated from degree programs but recognized the fact that a diploma from BCIT was so valuable. Those people that claim that UBC is way harder and how can a technical institute be harder than Uni are just plainly idiots. BCIT crams what they learn in 4 year into 2 years. For things like engineering or technical stuff BCIT is dominant in BC & AB.

bcrdukes 11-20-2013 12:51 AM

Did my degree through Cap and SFU, then my PMP through Sauder. That shit was a walk in the park compared to BCIT. Thinking of that one class at BCIT makes me vomit.
