Even without the snow, the temperature is still too cold to put on summer tires.

Halloween = winters on. April fools = winters off.

Westwood plateau got fucked this morning. Abandoned vehicles everywhere. People still haven't learned that they need snow tires

Damn. A light dusting of wet snow in Vancouver when I left this morning. Steveston got NOTHING. Absolutely green here.

originalhypa 03-07-2019 11:52 AM

The lower mainland was a mess this morning with freezing rain and icey condition on all of the south slopes. The wind was coming in from the southwest, so they got hit with some cold..... I'm done with this shit. Had to drag my goalie gear through wet snow last night.....

Bouncing Bettys 03-07-2019 12:14 PM

Aldergrove looked like that Westwood Plateau pic this morning. Didn't give myself enough time for all the drivers without snow tires, so I was late to work. Its pretty much all gone now, aside from what hadn't melted from the past weeks.

AzNightmare 03-07-2019 12:26 PM

Light ice rain today in Vancouver.... there wasn't even snow on the roads...
Traffic was going like 30-40km/h

:fulloffuck:

All the usual routes were bad. Lansdowne, David, Parkway, Panorama and Plateau. Most vehicles ditched had M+S tires.

Acura604 03-08-2019 07:24 AM

MEH...light dusting...nothing a good set of M+S with AWD couldn't handle... but i'm telling you, this is it... we are officially done with winter!

IF it snows again in downtown vancouver - i'll buy the first person who calls me out a 6pk.

I'm not really surprised by this. The snow that was falling was slushy and heavy. It was the kind of west coast snow that compacts into ice, and makes for a sketchy drive.

Got a big dump in the Tri-Cities

In all fairness, my 98 Forester only had Nokian all weather tires and I drove it through 3 Alberta winters without issues. This included a couple trips into Kamloops in December. Then again they wear out really fast in hot summer temps.

The Nokian wrg series has often beat out full winter tires in tests for many years. I don’t even know why they call it an all weather tire to be honest

westopher 03-09-2019 07:42 AM

Its also awful on dry, warm roads. It really is just a winter tire.

Raid3n 03-09-2019 12:53 PM

sounds like my yokohama guardex 600's i had years ago.. one march the temps spiked like 10-15 degrees and shredded my tires haha.

they were a couple seasons old at that point though

Gh0stRider 03-09-2019 04:50 PM

RCMP making driver clean snow off their vehicle.

GabAlmighty 03-09-2019 06:51 PM

Hahaha, i'm bad for that. I never clear off my truck. So long as the windshield is good and I can see my side mirrors.

BIC_BAWS 03-09-2019 07:32 PM

^ uh what about the potential sheet of ice / snow that flies off and hits the car behind you on the hwy?

Glad RCMP is doing this. I know some people were so stupid / inconsiderate / careless about it that my buddy straight up gave them tickets.

twitchyzero 03-09-2019 08:08 PM

would it kill police to not stop in the middle of the road? like just 2 more feet closer to the curb would be alright

yes, but they are required to stop like that. It's for safety. This is to block traffic in order to shield the officer from being hit while he is speaking with the driver

I've seen on hwy 1 were they stop in the slow lane, while the offending vehicle is on the shoulder.

twitchyzero 03-09-2019 08:55 PM

drivers are already well on their brakes the second they see the cherries

i'm not convinced safety is a priority when they're pulling people on the highway's LEFT shoulder

and then you have this

Spoiler!
