If I was you guys I'd skip the winters and just stay home the day or two a year you get snow instead.

Razor Ramon HG 01-08-2024 11:26 PM

That's what I do since I work from home. I just keep my DWS06+ on year round. When it snows, I just chill at home and wait for roads to get paved. City of Burnaby is pretty good at paving my area.

Three years ago i slapped on winter tires to my work truck, never took them off.

probably going to start doing that.

I totally don't mind the snow and the elements itself, but the fact I have to share the road with a lot of morons that have either no idea what they are doing or zipping around on completely bald tires.

It is hilariously bad here with the crap driving on the Surrey Delta side.

Great68 01-09-2024 08:13 AM

Since we have the trucks I won't drive the Mazda in the snow anymore (Which was fantastic with the LSD and the Xice's), but I still put the winters on every year because Saanich brines the roads around me for black ice. That shit just kills the wheel finish.

EvoFire 01-09-2024 08:43 AM

^ The MS3 was great in the snow. Only time I really got stuck was trying to climb an incline that had snow up past the fog lights and I was actually plowing the damn thing. I said nope and backed out.

WFH is great because I don't have to contend with BS.

Even back when I used the skytrain it was lame because the snow can get too bad for the train to run properly and the whole system just grinds to a halt. Now you are stuck in DT without a way out.

LOL I did that on the Civic in my avatar. It runs Chinese winter tires from my E46 all-year round, for the past 4 years.

I have jineez winters (Goodrides!) on my Golf and the tire roar makes me feel like I'm on the skytrain KEKW

Ran winters year-round on the Swedish shitboxes with no issues. SAAB had Coopers, Volvo had Gislaved tires.

mazda and PJSalt should be your main concern before wheel finish

HonestTea 01-10-2024 06:59 AM

The snow forecast has now become barely anything for the next few days.

Badhobz 01-10-2024 07:04 AM

^see!!! typical Vancouver winter letdown. buncha bullshit right there

yray 01-10-2024 09:29 AM

snow is a lie and waste of time

MarkyMark 01-10-2024 09:53 AM

No snow but it looks like it's going to get extremely cold the next few days, if you haven't shut the water off and drained the lines to your outside hoses now would be the time.

Sister's car runs XIce3 year round, tons of tread left.

Like, don't do this on the Blizzaks where only the first 45% of the tread is winter tread.

But given the low speeds/mileage/temperatures/less highway driving here, can totally get away with it.

inv4zn 01-10-2024 02:20 PM

Snow back in the forecast!

EvoFire 01-10-2024 02:29 PM

Believe it when I see it. Snow forecasts are inaccurate at the best of times in Vancouver

The wife stockpiled so much food. I’m like it’s at most 1cm with a lousy 50% chance for tomorrow…. wtf

donk. 01-10-2024 07:16 PM

Jokes aside, those self-heating hot pots are super convenient. Had a vegetarian version of lu rou fan and it was pretty tasty

6793026 01-11-2024 05:56 AM

^ i take it on flights and they are epic. I would put it in my car if i lived in Yukon but not much for Van. when it's 5.99 on special, i stock up.

bcrdukes 01-11-2024 08:43 AM

Is that stuff even allowed on flights? I can imagine in a post 9/11 world where CATSA and TSA would be all over the self heating pack being on a flight and suddenly, you're on the no-fly list lol
