Salt helps prevent, but once it starts snowing you really cant keep up with it, if it snows decently for 4+ hours. The problem is always the same, traffic builds up because people are unprepared/conditions just aren't good for driving. We have a lot of hills and when it ices its difficult even for snow tires. Then when the congestion starts the plows cant keep up with the demand due to the accidents and everyone blocking traffic. If you're throwing down salt while its snowing hard, you're just wasting resources. |
So is tomorrow going to be fukked or what? Is everything going to be ice? |
It's gonna be fucked for like 4 days looking at the forecast. |
The salt trucks should be out in force tonight, it should be clear by tmr morning commute time so I'm not terribly worried. Just the idiots who crashed or left their cars behind will need to go clean up. Most of them probably would have ended up in the tow yard. |
My drive home from Delta to Langley was fine the streets are bone dry here I guess this side of the Fraser lucked out |

But with the really low temperatures, roads that are untreated are an ice rink, especially around the Metrotown area. |

Guarantee that in the morning, a COV spokesperson will say, " the timing and suddenness caught us off guard and we were prioritizing the major (westside, b/c east van poors can go eat a dick) routes." |
I don't know about you guys, but I rode my bicycle home just fine. Lol. I am just kidding. |
I left work at 7:05pm .... my uasual time home will be 7:30.... I parked my car at 9:01pm And that is me constantly passing people on the right hand lane... I cant imagine what time I will get home if I just "stuck to the traffic flow"... Going 5km/hr isn't gonna help you... foook... Honestly people..... wtf |

Clearly our roads can handle the population density :derp: |
That last picture looks like a skating rink! |
https://www.reddit.com/r/vancouver/c...94ni3p/the_91/ The car's completely stopped on the highway and it just slides sideways into the other car. |
Dont worry guys, theres no fault insurance! Premiums have entered the chat |

Good luck everyone else !!! If you guys are heading into work today lawl. I’d call in a sick day or some shit. No point in getting your rides smashed up by idiots |
Working from home on Thursday and today on my hybrid work schedule is awesome. Avoid the chaotic ice show on the roads. |

Something to do with your kids if you’re stuck at home during this cold snap. Note: It has to be colder than -10 Celsius to work. |
