I've tried TeamKang, MIUI, CherryKang, and a bunch of other roms. Kernel's i've used are Franco, Matrix, AirKernel, etc.

usage is subject to the person obviously but that rom for me can last a long time with my type of usage.
for me, most i got was 37ish hrs on a single charge but minimal usage because i was fairly occupied throughout the day. only texted, and fb from time to time.

i gave that phone to my sister and she gets 3 days from just texting and minimal gaming. she doesnt have a data plan which is why it lasts that long. in terms of the kernel, its just w/e kernel was built in with cm9 which i found to work just fine

Noob question

I have accumulated and taken around 1000 pictures on my phone the past two months. If I want to load a new rom how do I put the pictures back into the phone? I know the pictures are on google+ but how do I put them back on the phone if I wipe it clean? Same with texts but they don't matter as much:$

drag the DCIM folder to your computer and drag it back afterwards..?
Texts you can do with Titanium Backup. You can even schedule it to check automatically

This issue is only plaguing a number of Nexus S running ICS 4.0.3. My usage patterns hasn't change much from GB to ICS, and I was getting 16 hours before.

Fruit for thought, in 3 hours on idle, It died with 33% battery left.

yameen 03-22-2012 12:18 PM

you probably have a defective battery

another reason to the cause of battery drain could be apps coded poorly causing the phone to stay awake constantly.

I'm getting "okay" battery life at about 15hrs 30mins, without auto-sync turned on.

This is with about 45mins of listening to music through Google Play Music, mostly offline music and a few tracks that were streamed. Also text quite a few messages (SMS, KakaoTalk, LINE, Whatsapp, GTalk). Few short phone calls, browsed FB and twitter.

This is enough to get through the day until I'm back home to charge it but back when I was using CM7, I would hit 20+hrs with about the same usage pattern.

There's a new CM9 v4.0 out, I'm gonna do a fresh install and install my apps back slowly to see which app is causing random spikes in battery drain (eg: the sharp decrease in the yellow part of the graph).

willystyle 03-23-2012 12:16 AM

I am also using BetterBatteryStats app to track wakelocks and such. So far, it hasn't indicate any issues.

I'd kill to get 16 hrs battery life right now.

hud 91gt 03-25-2012 04:08 PM

If I buy this thing now, are app's still going to created for it?

Just lost my 32gig iTouch, and the blackberry is just not going to do. I assume this phone will do everything I need it too, but i'm just concerned about how long software will be created over something like the iPhone 4?

shenmecar 03-26-2012 04:10 PM

well yeah, android apps work on all android phones as long as ur OS supports it.

J-force 03-26-2012 07:09 PM

couple days left till the end of march. Doubt ICS will be pushed

how much battery does your phone eat when you put it to sleep for an hour? When you look at the battery graph, is your phone constantly awake? I lose about 2% of battery an hour when the phone is in deep sleep which is totally acceptable to me.

I'm on CM9 v4.0 now, fresh install and now I'm only syncing my gmail (not syncing browser, photos, etc just syncing gmail only) and hotmail (checking for new email every 1 hour). Every other app I turned off sync(I unchecked them from the autosync menu as well as going into each of those apps unchecking anything that deals with sync) as most of them are redundant anyways, eg: Facebook notifications get sent to my hotmail and Twitter notifications get sent to my gmail so I didnt need those apps to be constantly updating. Oh and also some widgets are probably updating continously so take a look in their settings respectively and make changes. After these changes, I'm hitting 20+hrs now with more screen on time and much less awakes when the phone should be sleeping :)

screenshot says 17hrs but it should be around 23hrs, I had around 6hrs of battery usage until 90% and then the phone rebooted itself causing the battery stats to restart lol

Maybe give v4.0 and these kinds of settings a shot and see if it works

edit: I also did this mod http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1541806

Derek128 03-27-2012 01:19 PM

just wonder which is the most stable rom & kernel? I got my Nexus S by wind for 3 months
I haven't root nor install custom rom on it yet. I did those on my SE X10 but just doesn't have time to dig all the xda forum thread yet. What would you guys recommend?

I'm currently running (stock OTA 2.3.6)
GB 2.3.6
Bb I9020XXKF1
Kernel 2.6.35.7
Build number GRK39F

Thank you

edit: I also did this mod [How To] (video) Supercharge Ice Cream Sandwich!!! - xda-developers

My batter drains about 3% per hour on idle now. My K9 Mail was having some issues, so I did a reinstall, now it's working fine (where it was draining at 10% per hour).

My autosync is turned off, I am syncing 2 email accounts with K9 Mail, and I am using 1 widget (My Coffeecard Pro). I believe syncing for everything else is off.

In the autosync menu, I have the following listed items. My google email account, dropbox, and whatsapp.

I tried using Juicedefender, that shit doesn't help with battery life. so I just uninstalled it. It kills the battery with the constant reconnects to the WiFi and 3G Networks.

It seems like this is the most stable GB ROM out there: **Uptime=1024 Hours**, The most stable ROM that I've ever tested, with Proof - xda-developers

If you want stable ICS ROM, I'm not sure which one to recommend as I've only used Cyanogenmod and it's been pretty stable for me. (I'm using CM9 v4 with Matr1x kernel v17)

@willystyle: nice, it seems like your battery drain issue has been fixed. :fuckyea:

Is it normal to have a 5% battery drain just by reading a PDF document or email for 10 min?

I do alot of emailing and texting so I assume that this is whats killing my battery. :(

Seems like ICS 4.0.4 is being rolled out for GSM devices.

You can try manually updating yours here:

the beauty of Android is that - even if official support dies for it, you still have a HUGE developer network to go off of

Depends what phones though, some android devices get very little support from the community. You can never go wrong with the Nexus and Galaxy line though.

I am getting green Smiley messages that are spam ads for free games. Annoying and no idea how I got them. I tried airpush and adons detector but found nothing. Any suggestions?

Death2Theft 04-01-2012 10:26 PM

Anyone having weird memory problems yet? I had an issue with it trying to "prepare usb storage" on start up. Since that error random icons on my home screen have started disappearing and I had to reassign them from the ap's page. It also forgot what ringtone I had assigned and went back to a oem one. So far I am able to re assign things that wern't right.... But I am worried at it seemed to forgot my calendar appointment I just put in yesterday...
I really wanted to keep this phone for a long time too :(

yameen 04-04-2012 02:55 PM

official 4.0.4 ota release. i'm downloading as we speak.
