Shouldnt ICS be faster than GB? Maybe its still not optimized properly yet............

If you are comparing a STOCK ICS 4.0.3 vs STOCK GB 2.3.6, then I can tell you that the UI is not as smooth, somewhat laggy.

Is it just because the Nexus S hardware cant handle ICS?

Also, you guys that got your OTA updates, did it wipe your phone?

Mizter 12-20-2011 01:44 PM

Is there any good kernels (batter life wise) that works with CM9? I used morfic's TEUV for 2.3.6 but that didn't work when I tried to flash it with CM9.

everything transferred over. nothing was deleted and so far all my apps have been working with the occasional force close on one.

I tried installing CM9 Alfa 17. My 3g connection is connected but it's gray so I have no data. I tried flashing the radio to UCKF1 and KD1 my data still doesn't work.

Any one had that issue and found a way to fix it?

EDIT: NM Fixed data issue... had to change the APN settings. ICS feels sluggish... Using CM9 Alfa 17 /w Glados 2.2

can someone explain to me what the point of the recent app list is for? it's the list that pops up when you hold down the home button. are those apps running in the background or are they just stored as memory for faster access? does it take up more batteries if i leave them there?

thanks! i can't seem to find an answer in google.

multitask, those are few apps that are running in the background, simply "swipe" them off the screen, as if you were rubbin them out to close the app.

correct me if im wrong.

I have a Nexus S from telus, how come I still dont get the ICS update? I went to "about" -> "software update.. but nothing happens

hongy 12-22-2011 12:12 AM

update was for AWS nexus s only and the update has already been pulled.

yameen 12-22-2011 01:23 AM

yea apparently there have been some complaints about failed installation and such. also there seems to be some issues with battery life?

since i already have the ics update, which i don't see that much difference in battery life, will the next update automatically patch up any errors that i have on my existing ics? and there's no way to revert to 2.3.6 after installing 4.0 is there?

!Nhan 12-22-2011 02:02 AM

installed nexusbeam version of ics. it's okay, except that titanium backup is giving me problems. gonna install cm9 tomorrow and see how that works, if not then back to GB for me

wasabisashimi 12-22-2011 11:05 AM

is there a way to go back to GB if you are unhappy with ICS? I am referring to the vanilla GB without any mods and not from Cyanogen or other cooks.

Question, how well will this phone run on Wind or Mobilicity Networks?

!MiKrofT 12-23-2011 04:45 PM

It should run just fine considering their is an AWS version of the Nexus S available.

gc800 12-26-2011 07:34 PM

I'm going to Wind tomorrow to either pick up a Nexus S or LG optimus 2x..which one should I get?

taylor192 12-28-2011 08:08 PM

I keep telling my buddy to wait for the Galaxy Nexus cause it is pure Android and will update when available without having to wait for manufacturer crap that may never come... yet FFS Why isn't ICS out for my Nexus S yet?

!Nhan 12-28-2011 08:10 PM

Nexus S is pure android as well. unlock your bootloader, install clockwork mod, go to xda and find ics. i've been running mine for the past few weeks. some members here have had it for months
