^ sick!

for those who continue to stick with a pure google experience. much improvement has been made on kernel development over the past month or so with ezekeel's kernel mods. Allowing even more control over your phone! This opens up new challenges to push the phone to the limits will being very stable! I will give updates for those who wish to try!

This is a challenge for the remaining Nexus S users on RS who has not made the jump over to more recent devices!
Push the phone past 35hrs battery while maintaining daily usage patterns.

Setup: Nexus S on CM7.1.0.1 with franco kernel 11/6 CFS

first day with kernel!
results were great!
phone unplugged for a good 13hrs and drained to roughly 40%
there was probably a good total of 300 txt/whatsapp/line use there, with some twitter/4sq use

funny thing happened tho. i guess after checking a msg, i just left phone on table. didnt realize the screen never turned off...so in that 2hr span, it drained down to 15%. oddly enough, checking battery use window, display took up 52% of total battery use. this is roughly 10-12% higher than usual. Display should be no1, but never should it account for more than 40% of total usage. This is true for a messaging freak that I am.

then camera started to FC like crazy on me.
did some edits.. using 1100mhz max 440 min on stock mv settings

also read that i should enable screenoff to maxfreq(whatever the hell this means) so deepidle can get to work quicker once the screen is off. apparently this enables even better battery! so stress test day2 will begin when i wake up

they say it takes a few days of testing to find out the most efficient settings to push a crazy battery life.

as u can see, I send lots of msgs and use the socialmedia apps quite often.

My main goal is to push to or BEYOND 39hrs. I rmb the good ol nexusOne days in which gh0strider and I would compete for battery life. He ultimately won, as i text wayyy too much.

this is my quadrant score heh

Chilli, you got some step by step instructions? LOL i'm one of the few still haven't updated anything

veeh 11-08-2011 06:52 AM

darthchilli: How stable is your liveOC? I've been using NSCollab 1.0.50 with franco kernel 06/11/11 now updated to 08/11/11. Everything has been fast, smooth, and stable... Battery life has been good too and definitely better than before. Need to see how long I can push it as well.

Anyone looking to buy a nexus s that works with rogers/fido/bell/tellus? I've decided to sell mine. Pm me.

im using the newest ICS build and all i can say is its amazing!
google really outdid themselves. this is a unique android experience and feels nothing like iOS at all.

Question:
When you add new contact , does it automatically save it to your SIM card? There is no option to save to sim or to phone like my other phones (windows mobile, or symbian nokia)

kwy 11-10-2011 05:11 PM

Picked up a Nexus S today! It's replacing my old iPhone 3G. Lots to learn.

When you first enter your g-mail upon setup, it should have contacts auto sync enabled. So all your contacts you add will be auto synced to the gmail account you've used. Hope that helps...

Thanks but that didn't work. First android phone and I had to learn to use adb and bootloader. I reflashed to a different radio. Just followed the steps from the xda forums. These things can get complicated.
