^ screen time is 28mins and yes, the official stock ota is 4.0.3. |
1 Attachment(s) :okay: I've been using ICS on my Nexus S since it first came out before Google pulled the update. For a month, I've been getting decent battery like 16-18hrs before it dies but lately I'm getting terrible battery life. Like around 8hrs or so. I'm not sure if that "AndroidOS" bug finally kicked in or some of the apps I updated recently was buggy and causing the phone to stay awake constantly... Anyone else having this problem?? The screen on time is only 22mins. 3G is on, Wifi and sync is turned off. Android OS: CPU total: 3m 43s Keep Awake: 3h 22m 34s I've been reading that 4.0.4 update for the NS4G fixed the "AndroidOS" bug, so hopefully 4.0.4 comes out for the T-Mobile Nexus S soon! |

Those two really drain the battery on standby. |

I'm using 4.0.4 on my Nexus S, and honestly, it doesn't make any difference at all. I'm also another one of those with poor battery life on my Nexus S. I'm draining at approximately 10% per hour, screen on is 2.5 hrs, don't game, just text and facebook. I checked my wakelocks, they are fine. I don't want to use Juice Defender as it drains about the same amount of battery as if i wasn't using it every time i unlock my screen to connect to 3g/wifi. |
1 Attachment(s) even with turning off gtalk, google+,NFC and basically anything that I don't use, I was still getting shit battery life. Now i'm using CM9 V2.1 and so far it seems like the battery drain bug is gone :) 3g/wifi, sync are on |
So I've got a problem with my Nexus S running stock 2.3.6. My USB storage has stopped working, whenever I plug it into a computer it is not recognized as a USB device. I have done a bit of research on google and can't get it working. I've tried it on multiple computers with multiple cables and still nothing. To add to the problem, my phone randomly deletes pictures and music. I've lost a good 150 pictures from Europe and want this shit to stop. Any thoughts on the matter? |
i lost all my pics on my nexus s before too. it sucked :( i suggest in the future you have it autoupload to cloud storage to ensure you dont lose pictures again. |

I`ve now tried to wipe the USB and do a Factory Reset and the USB storage still doesn`t work. When trying to connect it Windows tells me the device is malfunctioning so I don`t know if I should contact Samsung or not? |

depends what youre looking for. im a ex iphone user and only went back to android because mobilicity doesnt support iphone. i missed my iphone to the point that i ended up getting a ipod touch to carry around WITH my nexus s. battery life on my nexus s is better than my blackberry battery life for sure. but maybe thats cause now im running a custom rom. iphone has great battery life too. thing about android though is that you can buy spare batteries so if you ever run out of batts you can just pop in a spare battery. i would recommend the iphone if youre choosing between iphone or android (i hope my opinion isnt biased). iphone has tons of media apps, games etc and its definitely more reliable than androids although androids are even more reliable than blackberrys. the iphone is definitely the more fun phone and doesnt give me a headache like my nexus s does. if youre super tech savvy and if customization is important for you then youre better off with a android but seeing that you came from an blackberry...... :troll: iphone is definitely better out of the box and more user friendly. but like teh doucher mentioned the os isnt polished. at least honeycomb wasnt but now Ice Cream Sandwich is out and i found it a lot better. however, you can do a lot more with android if youre willing to put in the time and effort. but yeah just dont go back to berry, you wont regret it. i hate it when people go like "but blackberry has BBM" or "but blackberry has a physical keyboard". thats pretty retarded cause bbm is for berrys only. theres whatsapp and line anyways. as for the physical keyboard part, what blackberry users dont understand is that it takes time to get used to the touchscreen keyboard. everyone will have trouble typing at first. its like learning how to ride a bike. i probably type faster on a touchscreen than on a physical keyboard cause i have to press down on blackberries and autocorrect is pretty kick ass if you have the swiftkeyX keyboard on android. go for galaxy s2 or galaxy nexus if youre going android. liked my sgs2 a bit more than my NS. however at the end of the day i would still go for the iphone. has the nicest build quality out of every phone i used and great out of the box. iphone is better in terms of media. android is better in terms of customization. TL;DR hope that helped |
^i totally doubt you can type faster and more accurately than someone who is good on a blackberry. maybe if all the words are really easy for autocorrect to predict, or words that swype or other keyboards have no problems with, but throw in a few symbols and punctuation and on screen keyboards dont keep up. having stuff like a shift key on a blackberry where you can easily add in punctuation, capitalization, symbols etc... is a huge bonus and helps you type super quick even when theres tricky characters. I used an Iphone 3g for 2 years and had no problems what so ever. I've used a Nexus S for 4 months and have had countless problems and still don't have the ICS update and can't get various functions to work again, after they stopped working for no reason. |

^honestly its the direction all phones are going in the future. Quote:
one day the speaker wasnt working so i tried resetting it. it turned off and never turned on again. nexus s has been a good phone for me. i fucked it up though because i unknowlingly plugged in a severed ac adapter and gave it bad voltage. getting it warrantied by samsung. |
^ I really do love the Nexus S, great screen and runs quick enough for my needs. But now, I can't use the USB storage, no transfering music or pictures to/from it and I can't figure it out for the life of me. I think I need to contact Samsung but then I'm phoneless for awhile and that sucks. |
see if a friend has a phone you can borrow in the meantime. ironically i ended up borrowing my friends 3g. exactly the same phone i bricked once before lol. you've barely owned the nexus, i'd get it fixed under warranty. i'll let you know how fast i get it turned around. i just shipped it to them last thursday. |
