Was just at the Comox airport, flew back from camp, and got to watch the F 18 doing his air show demo. Was told I just missed the snowbirds a few min before. Any of you cold lake guys in Comox for the practice? Oddly enough I am in camp at Cold Lake. :p

in a real all out war, where both sides have roughly equal technology, most ships and planes will be sunk/shot down with ease with very little
chance of defense.

prime example of something just for show/morale booster is the Phalanx CIWS (and variants). That thing won't stop any incoming missiles, if it does, it's just pure luck.

And your post is pure bullshit. I know people on our ships who operate those weapons, and people who simulate and tow targets for live fire exercises. The CIWS can be very accurate and effective.

Visited the Hendon RAF Museum the other day. Pretty good selection of classics. I still can't separate Spitfires from Mustangs and Hurricanes. Add 109's in the mix and I might as well just give up.

F35 looks pretty neat though, completely smooth skin.

Visited the Intrepid Air and space Museum again last week to see the Concorde exhibit. A sad day and a step backwards for humanity the day they stopped flying these things. 3-hours from London to NYC! Thought I'd share :)

Just came back from the desert, feels good to breathe fresh air and be in under 45 degree weather.
