you guys think two gtx260 SLI'd can handle this shit? 12gigs ram core i7 920. |
Would I be better off getting a 6950, 6870 or a 560Ti? I'm currently using: AMD Athlon x2 620 OCd to 3.2Ghz going to get a 1100T as an upgrade 4GB of RAM --> 8GB XFX 4870 --> one of the three video cards Posted via RS Mobile |
Well, depends... the 560Ti is the current bang for buck price-leader, neck and neck with 6950 1GB versions. Some of the sales now make a lot of sense - under 200$ for a 560Ti? Yes please. The 2GB of the 6950/6970 IMO don't make sense unless you have a huge screen with killer res - a 30" with 2560x1600, or something like that. Some games are better on the 560Ti, some games are better on 6950 - depends on what they optimize it for. Traditionally, EA games optimized for Nvidia, Valve likes ATI. Also, I like the Nvidia drivers much more than the ATI ones. And they use less power and in general are quieter than ATI products. @ Ulic - you should be fine... but maybe time for an upgrade soon? 260's are getting pretty long in the tooth. EDIT: Or Hell, get two of these: Gigabyte 560 and SLI them. Better than a GTX580 in performance for less. |
who's down to pitch in for a Revscene server? |
first XBOX footage...just the extended trailer from last week looks pretty darn good for pos hardware |

Becuz of DX11 ? |
Looks good enough so I can actually play with friends. Only like 3 of my friends have PCs that can run it, everyone else plays on Xbox. |

At least a quad-core i5, GTX 560Ti, 8GB RAM and a 600W+ PSU for high. @Vansterdam - here's a mock computer build, before tax & Windows. There's some MIR's that are not counted yet - about $50's worth. This will play it at high settings, but not maxed out. You'd need to SLI the GTX570 for that. |
i don't mind picking up the parts slowly if its gonna save me some money from online and local sales and such 1500 is my budget just tower, no need for monitor, keyboard, mouse i need something that runs quiet and would last me for the next 3-4 years if someone on here can start recommending me parts that are on sale for a killer price/deal (compared to regular retail price) i shall start my new build slowly =P again, i don't mind buying each part separably as ill prob get a better deal if i do VS buying a new built pc all at once just looking to play BF 3 on high settings + browse/download internet any help would be great thanks |
i5 2500k+mobo deals from NCIX, most of the mobos are decent GTX580 or 2x 560Ti 750~1000W psu depending or Sli or not any WB black hdd corsair dominator 8gb ram - these are pricey but awesome for overclocking if you want to squeeze performance out of the beast that is the 2500K processor, spend some time oc'ing it's really worth the money. |

If you want quiet stray away from the MSI videocards as they are mostly known for good cooling & noise, go for an Asus Direct CU 560ti since it can provide a good balance between noise and cooling However, if you plan to run a 3+ monitor setup in the future get an HD6950 as its in the same range as the 560Ti Case, go for something like a Sonata or Fractal R3 as they have sound deadening in them Ram, maybe its just me but Id get G-skill or Corsair to match your CPU since they have much better quality and wont really limit your overclock headroom PSU, is really an important part of the rig and I wouldnt cheap out on an OCZ psu as I've heard and seen reviews that its a hit or miss, get something thats gold certified HDD, if you are only running 1 hard drive, get a WDD black to stay in budget instead of the green as the green series are slower and are good for storage purpose and not so much gaming |
^ knows his stuff. definitely don't overlook PSU and HDD (HDD commonly the choke for PC performance) |

Also, for your build - pricematch DirectCanada for the Asus 560Ti at 242.99, get the G.skill ram @ 1600Mhz instead. 49.99 at Memory Express so you can PM @ NCIX. @Vansterdam - dude, look at the list I built you. It's better than what you picked out for gaming and o/cing, the 61-series boards are useless for o/c. Posted via RS Mobile |
For those of you looking for the SPECACT kit, it costs less than $6 here: Battlefield 3 SPECACT Kit, Battlefield 3 Dog Tag Pack, BF3 Confirmed working by numerous users on the official forums and on reddit: EA Forums reddit |
