if you are looking to get a new computer read the last few pages of this thread on RFD
[Comp] NCIX: Custom Built Computers - $1000 and $700 Gaming Computers - RedFlagDeals.com Forums

see what other people are assembling...see what's popular and make your own list and post it here for others to critique

$50 for NCIX to put it together if you don't want to do it yourself

In case you guys don't know, Origin gives you a 25% of coupon for your birthday, so you can create a new account where your birthday is tomorrow lets say, and preorder BF3 for 25% off

Vansterdam 09-17-2011 01:01 PM

the pc you built for me is gona be like 1500$

i think i can get a killer setup for under 1000 easily.. maybe a bit over but yea..

i don't think i will OC this build.. (i dunno shit all about overclocking and i would like this comp to last for 3-4 years without breaking down)

taking kchans info into consideration i came up with this. (i don't mind upgrading to i7 vs i5 if this comp is gonna last me for another 3-4 years)
unless the prices/performance for i5+MB is really good right now

i heard the video card i selected is only loud when im running games but for other daily uses it should be able to run preety quiet no?

the only thing i need to add is a PSU+CASE

for power supply i probably only need something 650-700W MAX
dont really care what the case looks like as long as its cheap + quiet + good airflow

might also need a new motherboard suggestion other then the one i posted.

i noticed the HD i selected says sata3 but the motherboard says sata2 only (does this mean it wont work?)

fs604 09-17-2011 01:14 PM

^ 2600k wont help u at all with gaming. You're paying 100$ extra for hyper threading you dont need. Also, terrible mobo.
Sata3 means transfer rates are faster but you wont notice a difference with a hdd because they are too slow.

Case: haf 912
Psu: tx650 or if u want the extra power saving and fully modular go for hx650

is the i5 2600k really that good/worth it?

shit if someone can OC my build safely maybe ill go with the i5 2600k instead ( from reading other peoples suggestions/builds on here)

with that being said

isnt ncix having a deal on the i5+mobos?

what would you guys recommend?

is this the best one for the price?

NCIX.com - Buy Intel Core i5 2500K Quad Core Unlocked Processor LGA1155 3.3GHZ Sandy Bridge 6MB - Intel - BX80623I52500K - in Canada

twitchyzero 09-17-2011 01:32 PM

sata is backwards compatible
you don't need i7 2600K for gaming...save yourself at least another $100 by going with a regular 2500 not the unlocked 2500K since you do not plan on overclocking.
your mobo is mATX...should go with ATX so you can fit in standard case
pick reputable brand PSU corsair/seasonic..maybe antec as well

kchan 09-17-2011 01:34 PM

Lots of members here would gladly help OC and reach you while enjoying a bud and beer LoL
Jokes aside, you only need i7 if you do programs that will utilize the extra 4 threads which 80% of the programs out there don't in our market atleast
You will notice bare to no increase if you game with i5 or i7

The msi cooler will be louder and noticeable even on idle, I'm very picky person so I have lots of emphasis on quiet :(
But take your time do research and ask around or just us :)

there are tons of guides on how to OC a 2500k.
The only reason you would get a 2600k instead is for the hyperthreading which will help in video rendering and stuff like that.

NCIX has weekly sales promos that update on wednesday nights but I would not get the bundles even though it seems like a good deal. You can pricematch from directcanada and save even more.

You guys are forgetting about z68 and srt. Will increase load time for bf3 and when it says it will make your hdd "4x faster" it has been proven to be true. (well not exactly 4x but definitely very impressive)

try the z68xp-ud3-issd and 2500k if you are interested in srt.

illicitstylz 09-17-2011 01:43 PM

sometimes on ncix if you separate the combos (eg cpu + mobo) and price match them through shopbot.ca etc, they end up being cheaper than the combo price.

but you should make your own thread and have all the related posts moved out of this since this is getting off topic regarding building pc's.

Get a i7 2600K and OC it to 5Ghz Like mineeeeeeee

intense video card recommended settings.

haymura 09-20-2011 08:17 AM

i went nuts on upgrading my comp to get ready for upcoming new games.

Asus Rampage III extreme mobo
Core i7 960
Corsair 1200w psu
Corsair dominator 12gb ram
dual GTX580 sli
2x 120gb corsair force GT solid state drive
1TB black caviar HDD
benq xl2410t 120hz monitor
NZXT black phantom case

hopefully that would be enough to run BF3 on max settings and last me awhile on upcoming new games.

twitchyzero 09-20-2011 08:17 AM

:fulloffuck::fulloffuck:

Dice is trolling us...they've mentioned sys specs would be close to that of BFBC2

http://smidig.se/files/inte_hemsida/580.PNG

pretty sure people with 560/6950 wanted to play on high...now it's only good for medium

so it really is true...you need GTX580 in SLI to run ultra max'd out...I'm guessing that means a single 590/6990 is barely enough to moax out...that's at least $800 in graphic processing power

BF3 is the new Metro 2033/Crysis

looks like I won't even be able to run this lowest possible setting 800x600 on my 5 year old comp while I wait for ivy bridge/PCI-E 3.0 graphic cards...

TOS'd 09-20-2011 08:20 AM

Damn, i dont have a dvd rom drive.......lol.

My 8800GT just barely made the cut.

roastpuff 09-20-2011 08:40 AM

Geez, I'm both glad and sad I went dual 560Ti's.

twitchyzero 09-20-2011 09:28 AM

^ i wonder if you can pull off ultra @ 1080p smoothly with MSAA and other fps killers off.

beta is still Operation Metro, no mention of whether it's 64 players for PC (I'm guessing not)

We'll see when the beta comes out. I'm damn worried, and I thought I over-killed when I built my system.

i7-2600k @ 4.1Ghz
Gigabyte Z68-UD4P
8GB G.Skill DDR3-1600 Ripjaws X
120GB Intel SSD + 2TB Hitachi Deskstar
SLI Asus 560Ti DirectCUII
750W PCP&C Silencer Crossfire Quad

GTX 580 is around 500 each right? you spent 1000 on video card alone?
