pornmaster let us know your comp specs and what setting you are running at for it to be smooth.

PornMaster 07-27-2011 08:24 PM

Runs perfect no hiccups, I'd post screenshots and video but I don't wanna risk losing the game cuz its under the NDA. When I run it on eyefinity, it gets really really choppy. So I play at 1920x1080. I own 3 BF games, and am on the newsletter.

I like the new way of knifing. It stops idiots from running around knifing everyone.

But now if your in the open your going to be dead in like 3 seconds

I dunno, I just hope this alpha was something they made months ago, cuz yeah it looks pretty but it all feels really off.. Like I can understand some rough UI and general usability but.. just the core gameplay mechanics feels kinda funny...

SaviorSelf_666 07-27-2011 11:17 PM

Feels pretty great for an alpha test.

Will I stil buy the game yea, but for me this alpha test has been a huge letdown if its a sign of things to come.

Now, I hope I'm wrong, but with the game coming out in about 3 months time, this "alpha" build had better be a really old build that they're just testing to the public. Because if this is the alpha build using what they have at present there's just so many issues I have at least. Does it look pretty, definately, I built my new desktop 570gtx, i72600k, 16gigs of ram just for battlefield 3, but this is alpha so far has been a far cry from the hundreds of hours of enjoyment I've logged with my friends in battlefield bc2.

I understand that they're trying to attract the COD MW audience, but to make the movement so glidey it doesn't bode well for the battlefield series. Knifing has pretty much become a humiliation tool rather than an actual viable close combat option as performing that kill sequence opens the door for the enemy's teammates to stroll in on you.

Yeah I'm nitpicking, but this alpha just didn't have the magic that the battlefield bc2 beta had back when it was released for public consumption. I hope they intend to change the UI which is currently has a terrible chat box location and font, as well as the victory screen ui half of which gets pretty difficult to read due to the white smoke on white text.

Again I understand that it's an alpha, but I really hope this is an extremely early build they've released to the public to test, b/c if this reflects 80% of what the game will be like, I'll be pretty sad.

twitchyzero 07-27-2011 11:40 PM

sounds like you'll be disappointed...the game is like you said 3 months away and normally speaking from beta testing not a whole lot is changed...can't say much about alpha though.
16 GB of RAM geez what type?...i hope you edit photo/videos too

The purpose of the Battlefield 3 Alpha Trial is to do a number of server-related tests in preparation for game launch, including load testing our back-end. We are also looking to you to provide us with any feedback on the entire Alpha Trial experience.
Please note that this is not the Open Beta due in September, it's not the Beta promised to buyers of Medal of Honor: Limited Edition and this is not a public demo. This is a highly tech-focused Alpha Trial that does not represent final quality of the game. Performance at this early stage of development will potentially be choppy and far from optimal, and we will bring the servers down at our leisure if needed. There will be periods of downtime and periods when we run tests that will negatively affect the performance on the Alpha Trial servers (leading to lag and rubber banding, etc.).
Its more of a server stress test.

16gb of ram is cheap enough that you might aswell max it out anyways.

Yeah I'm aware of their warnings in regards to graphical/latency performance, but it doesnt say anything about general gameplay mechanics which I'm sure they're pretty set on. Like I said the game looks visually amazing, but as an actual game that'd I'd have a fun time playing this alpha has me somewhat skeptical. Its a facimile of its predecssors as it stands now in this alpha build, and has traded mechanics for wider mass appeal to the larger COD audience. On a side note.. I really hope in the final game it doesnt take 6+ rockets to a vehicle to take it down.

As for the RAM I went with 16gigs as I set a budget, I'll probably upgrade when I need more. And yeah I do some graphic design work and rip/encode 3d blurays for my DIY 3d projection home theatre.

TOS'd 07-27-2011 11:56 PM

Can't remember info so can't add a game to get veteran status 2. =[

SaviorSelf_666 07-27-2011 11:58 PM

I guess we will see when the beta is released. As you said this might be an older build. I persoanlly love the alpha, and have many comments on how they love the game already even tho it's in a alpha state.

PornMaster 07-28-2011 12:00 AM

come on guys its ALPHA stage
you guys are comparing it to the beta in bc2

bc2 beta was pretty fun but no where balanced as it is today.

beta is in september so we will see

twitchyzero 07-28-2011 03:04 PM

is there command rose? gonna miss 6-man squads

Bad Company 2 is nowhere near balanced, not to mention the awful hit detection, which actually got worse post release.

Anyways, I've been playing in the alpha. Hit detection is really good, runs great (looks as good as BC2 maxed out without all the options aval.) and framerate is about the same.

Hit detection is much much better, best infantry combat BF series has ever had (own them all except 2142). They also removed all the bullshit abilities that were in BC2 like the sensor ball or the stupid mortar ability.

3D spotting back and is really shitty, basically free kills for noobs that can aim at the symbols. There is a thousand+ poster thread on the alpha site that wants to bring back 2d spotting from BF2.

No command rose either, and again there is a 1000+ posted thread in the alpha forums asking for this.

Can't really comment on vehicles because the map they are testing with is very infantry oriented. Although I will say, it is not nearly as confined as the Bad Company 2 maps.

I was really to shit on this game, because I really dislike Bad Company 2. The game feels nothing like it other than the fancy ui. I think if they bring back the command rose and fix 3d spotting this game will be amazing.

strykn 07-29-2011 12:08 PM

EA Y U SO NOOB FRIENDLY. :okay:

PornMaster 07-29-2011 02:36 PM

That video was almost 2 years ago.

I found out a BIG issue why people are complaining about the alpha stage.
Didn't realize until 3 days of playing and trying blow shit up.
YOU CANT
there is only limited destruction ie trees that is why the game feels like poop

twitchyzero 07-29-2011 05:02 PM

3d spotting is almost as weak as kill cams

The7even 08-01-2011 09:28 PM

I'm on the EAUK BF3 forums and the dev's told us that they're debating about the comm rose.

The7even 08-02-2011 02:31 AM

also, this..

twitchyzero 08-02-2011 03:54 PM

that's some crazy nerd rage.

Hummus 08-11-2011 06:48 PM

few more months! lol i like the changes they did to the classes to really hammer on the teamwork part of the game, especially the suppression fire with one of the classes

twitchyzero 08-13-2011 02:05 PM

they brought a MiG jet for the gamescon booth lol...looks like they weren't kidding when they said they are going to spend $100 million on getting this game exposed to beat MW3 sales.
they'll be showing 64 player conquest MP gameplay next week...can't wait for them to demo jets/heli :fullofwin:
