finally an update! thx lol im seriously laughing so hard right now after reading this: "The response i got was that they believe there was contamination that had gotten into the cylinders from either running engine without and air filter or there was contamination in the intake manifold or unsanitary conditions" :lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol how is that machine shop still in business after fukin up ur motor so many times when all they had to fix was a minor issue from the beginning lol |
Here is the response from AERA. (Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association) It would appear from the photos observed that this engine is allow oil to get by the piston rings into the combustion chamber, there can be some things altering the ring seal ability if there is an ineffective PCV system or an exhaust restriction trying to “push” air back through the intake system, which ends up pressurizing the crankcase impeding the rings ability to seal against the cylinder wall. If the reasons for original engine removal included excessive oil consumption, they’ve yet to find the original problem. Good Luck, Dave Hagen This was forwarded to Edward on the 13 April. The email i sent to Edward: Edward, Refinish a cylinder head locally from CC Racing is 9.75per guide + the price of the guide itself. Now after replacing the guides would need valve seat cutting which is 8.50ea. Me and CC Racing both think the best would be getting the head there and have them check it. Afterall, I want to get this cylinder head issue resolved asap. This email was also sent to Edward on the 13 April. I never heard back from him for any updates until this was brought to my attention. Its been 2.5 months since we talked, I was expecting an update sooner. |
So, what are the plans for the engine now? |
At least they didn't blame it on the ECU :D |

bet he ignored " warning danger to manifold" on his laptop.. and now the mad scientists have to replace the piston rings he fried. :troll: Posted via RS Mobile |
After speaking to David and confirming both him and the machine shop weren't going to accept any responsibility i felt that there was no reason to give him any more updates. The cylinder head is a moot point at this time since the block will need to be removed and at the very least honed and re-ringed. Its the least of my worries. Sending the head back there after seeing there work was an unacceptable. I wouldn't let them rebuild my lawnmower. |
I can only speak as an observer with limited mechanical knowledge but if what you say is true then that is a pretty bad way of doing business on their part. Will definitely remember this and pass it on to others. |

There are PLENTY of local machine shops that can fix your problems. Take it to Alecs. |

Is your lawn mower also chipped and not broken in properly? |

So explain to me why my block on the first rebuild, went 15000km with no damage to any of my cylinder walls and the second one only went 1500km and everyone is scored to hell. Quote:

You didn't break the motor in properly the second time around. Doesn't sound like you are denying it.... hmmmmm It looks like harsh piston slap going on. Loose bore + not letting the car warm up (piston is not expanded fully) and when you bag on it, the piston flops around in the bore. Common problem for racer boyz who want to hit v-tach right out of the garage. What kind of pistons are in it? What is the piston/wall clearance? |
^ You do know Iron Chef is a Red Seal licensed mechanic who has rebuilt lots of engines for customers over the years. I would think he understands why you don't 'bag' on a cold engine. Perhaps the reason he never responded is because you're asking him something which is as obvious as 2+2=4. Posted via RS Mobile |

All you bench racers and wannabe engine builders responses are classic. How many engines have you broken in? You do know there are several ways to break in a motor right? All them are valid and work. Berz out. |

David is not the best at customer service, but I never really had any problems with the work David at EVO did. Overall he knows his shit and gets the job done! |

some of the responses in the thread are amusing. i love internet mechanics..they have all the answers........... |
Meh. I've had very good service w/ Evogarage. This thread does not faze me in any way in returning to them for business. |
^ i get what you're saying, but when things are goin according to plan obviously the shop is gonna be good to you... it's when something goes wrong that's when they really show their true colors, kinda like that high school friend you thought was a good buddy, until a girl comes in the picture and he goes faggot mode |
so the guy turns into a faggot and you get the girl? :fullofwin: |
