As they should. ICBC customers shouldn't have to pay for that shit.

VANCOUVER - The Insurance Corporation of B.C. has filed a suit in B.C. Supreme Court seeking more than half a million dollars in damages against 46 people charged or convicted in the 2011 Stanley Cup riots.
The civil claim seeks damages and costs related to 77 vehicles that were set on fire or destroyed after violent riots erupted when the Canucks lost Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final in June 2011.
The estimated cost of damage to vehicles during the riot, according to the suit, is more than $526,000. Some of the top costs include $61,000 for a 3006 Bentley, $47,000 for a 2007 black BMW and $40,000 for a black 2007 Hummer.
ICBC has also named two unidentified persons as defendants who either have charges pending or are named at a later time.
Company spokesman Adam Grossman said in a statement that ICBC has a responsibility to protect customers’ premium dollars and is taking the legal action to recover the costs of the acts of vandalism.
He said ICBC will not comment on the matter further as it is now before the courts.
Meanwhile, two years after the riots, the Ministry of Justice says 229 people have been charged. Of those 149 have plead guilty and 102 have been sentenced.
All of the adults who have been convicted, except one, have received prison sentences to be served either in the community or an institution.
The sentences range from 30 days to 20 months.
The riots sparked public outrage after thousands of people took to the streets burning cars, smashing windows, looting and fighting. At least 140 people were reported as injured, including several police officers.

So ICBC is suing for $500k+ in damages against 46 rioters. I dunno how much the legal costs are going to be in the end, so I'll leave those out for now. But assuming that the rioters end up losing, the average penalty is only going to end up at ~$11k/person (+ legal fees, of course).
$11k+ isn't chump change, but I certainly wish the amount would be larger.

~$11k + another $11k in legal fees per person?
Make them pay their legal costs and ICBC's legal costs too if they fight it and lose.

So...does she now have a criminal record since she has to do time? Stanley Cup rioter guilty of breaching probation | News1130
VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – A Stanley Cup rioter who breached probation won’t be sent to jail.
Camille Cacnio had argued she was out past her curfew because of a medical emergency. She claimed to have had a panic attack and needed medication.
A judge ruled against Cacnio and sentenced her to time already served, one day in jail.
Last year, Cacnio pleaded guilty to her role in the riot, stealing two pairs of men’s pants and a tie.
She was given a suspended sentence and probation for that.

I just think it would have been better if it was NOT time served - a sentence of a day in jail followed immediately be being dragged off to the clink for the next 24 hours, would have been a much more powerful smack upside the head, I think.

That alone will haunt her for quite a long time - nevermind a criminal record.

Too bad Camille hangs around people in her court video and not more people like this one, otherwise she wouldn't have been in this position in the first place.
