And if they continue to be terrible, I'm sure the players will be happy to waive their NTC. Especially if they get to list the teams they don't mind being traded to.

Grandmaster TSE 07-04-2011 10:57 PM

all you guys need to calm down and shut up about that the team is fail

training camp hasn't even started yet, and even then we have until next year's trade deadline to complete a playoff ready team

i know gillis hasn't done a lot yet, but that doesn't mean he won't, there is time, plenty of time for him to make changes

Get used to it man..this is Revscene and Vancouver afterall.. .remember last year??? everyone on here said "fire MG for not making any moves, etc etc." but then everyone's tone changed to "great move/trade by MG" as the season got along;)

You gotta love sports fans.. I still remember too when we signed Malhotra... ppl on here were like "WTF was that" then of course, everyone loves manny now.... I have a good feeling it will be the same with Sturm... ;)

411ken 07-05-2011 07:49 AM

It's like the trouble they got into again with Lecavlier, Richards, St.Louis and Boyle. It's been reported that even with the Lighting's playoff run into the 3rd round last season, they still lost $30 million, ouch.

really? 30 million is a lot to loose....probably my second favourite team in the NHL and sad to see them do bad financially

Tampa Bay Lightning To Post Huge Loss This Year Despite Stanley Cup Run

It has been a great season for first-year Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik, who paid just $93 million for the NHL team. The Lightning finished the regular season with 103 points, 23 more than the 2009-10 season, while attendance increased by almost 2,000 per game, and Vinik’s team currently holds a 2-0 lead over the top-seeded Washington Capitals in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

But the Lightning will still post a pretax loss of around $30 million even if they reach the finals, according to a person familiar with the Lightning’s finances. In large part this is because the league’s new collective bargaining agreement, which began with the 2005-06 season. Playoff teams must pay the N.H.L. a low six-figure fee to help cover the league’s costs to produce the playoffs, including expenses for travel, marketing and officiating. The fees increase each round. Also, teams are required to contribute part of their playoff ticket revenue to the N.H.L.’s revenue-sharing program, which redistributes money to the financially weaker teams. Upshot: playoff games now mean about $500,000 net per game to the home team instead of over $1 million under prior CBA.

It doesn’t matter if the Lightning have 16 playoff games at the St. Pete Times Forum. If Vinik wants to turn a profit he will have to sell get more gate and sponsorship revenue during the regular season.

Not surprised, apparently Gillis only offered him the same salary as last year. Hansen interviewed by a Danish newspaper

I have been offered the same salary as in this season (825,000 U.S. dollars, ed.), He tells sporten.dk

My agent and I see it as a negotiating position, and over the summer, we expect that things fall into place. We have no hurry.

For the record, it was damaged in transit, he didn't break it.

Canucks designers should've photoshopped it straight.

Gumby 07-05-2011 10:24 AM

The question is, who broke it?
