I started working with a freelance contractor out of Chicago and need to pay her in USD. What's the best way to go about this. It's about $2k USD. Just use Wise? Or Remitly?

Razor Ramon HG 08-06-2025 05:14 PM

Looks like Junki Lee is on the news for scamming.

How does a guy like this continue to scam people without getting his ass shot? It sounds as though he's scammed over $100K over all these years, guys have lost their lives for much less in this city.

bcrdukes 08-06-2025 07:33 PM

I guess he's just that good.

Wise. I use it monthly to pay my US CC's, pretty good rates and quick.

Has anyone organized a big group trip with a big charter bus before?
Our group is considering doing a family golf trip to Predator Ridge in Vernon next year.
The idea would be eight families (two four-somes) about 30 total people, including wives and kids.

Just wondering if we should just rent a charter bus or everyone drive up themselves.

whitev70r 08-07-2025 10:46 PM

I'm going to bet that no one here has ever chartered a bus for a huge ass trip like what you are describing.

bcrdukes 08-07-2025 11:16 PM

I did not, but a friend of mine who got married a number of years ago at Predator Ridge did charter a bus or two to shuttle their families from Vancouver. The thought process was to save everyone the fatigue of driving and just focus on enjoying the wedding.

I can’t speak to whether there was any economic value in taking this approach, but it saved everyone from a long drive.

Gumby 08-08-2025 12:56 AM

Chartering a bus also allows everybody to drink freely…

sonick 08-08-2025 01:34 AM

I've chartered (or managed somebody who arranged it) a tour bus to take my company to various company retreats.

What do you want to know?

Oh perfect, do you have a recommendation regarding companies. I am mainly concerned with safety regarding their driver and the bus itself.

I just talked to one company, Fargo Coach lines, but I didn't get the best first impression from them.

I had some logistics questions, but I guess I can ask the company itself once I find a reputable one.

The recommendation is probably the best thing I can ask for.

It seems like for long hauls to Vernon we will need one of those big 50 seater coach busses.

Honestly as someone who has helped plan this type of stuff before, it will be cheaper for you to rent a Ford Expedition and a driver and have him(or two people) shuttle the most difficult family members for you and have everyone else drive themselves. Generally, people want to go off on their own at some point and not be stuck with only 1 vehicle and a huge group. It's a logistical nightmare to have 50 grumpy family members have to take the same fucking bus.

PeanutButter 08-08-2025 11:56 AM

^Yeah, you're right. Just thinking about it seems pretty crazy. I'm concerned about moving around with that many people. It sounds pretty annoying. Even the whole food situation seems like a lot of work.

bcrdukes 08-08-2025 12:03 PM

Spoke to my friend who did the charter.
She says she would never do it again and would never recommend it to anyone. Not because of the bus, but everyone was just a pain in the ass. Some of her friends ended up unfriending her (online and in real life.)
