I’d rather take the debt.

$200K USD. Damn, son.

My brother had to get my gf at the time to sell the car, clear up her credit card debt before they got married.

I ain't marrying you, i'm marrying your family as well as your credit score.

Such great advice.

That would kill it for me, but it didn't for him. They had two kids... and 10 years later they are now divorced. I haven't asked if he got to keep half of that debt.

I'm sorry, but unless that chick is geared up for a profession that is expected to repay all that debt in a few years, I can't do it either.

At my salary level, that is probably equivalent to a 15+ year mortgage.

Wait... does this mean I am consciously choosing 15 years' worth of mortgage payment over 15 years of wild monkey sex?! That doesn't sound right...
:suspicious:

Of course it can... any pension earned during a marriage or common-law relationship can be split 50/50.

If someone is worried about their pension, then they should marry someone who also has a pension to mitigate risk.

Wait, your brother married your ex gf? I guess that's pretty efficient.

bcrdukes 12-19-2025 11:52 AM

Are you all looking forward to divorcing your spouses in the future or something? If so, then Badhobz has it all figured out. You pay a prostitute for whatever services you desire or hire a house cleaner, cook and make everything a business transaction and never have to worry about divorce. What's yours is yours and you don't to hear about their problems. If you married someone already, or planning to marry someone, boy, you already fucked up.

I read this the same way and was a bit confused. Any way... :inoutugh:

I think you guys are overestimating the ease of finding someone else that’s emotionally and physically compatible with you, if someone isn’t necessarily financially compatible. There’s zero chance I believe I could find someone that rivals my wife in that way if she was worse off financially when we started dating. I couldn’t have just called it and started a new relationship and expected those connections not to be worse.
Love isn’t objective and it sure as shit isn’t a business.

bcrdukes 12-19-2025 11:56 AM

Taking from BIC_BAWS's journey:

1. Ask girl on date how she was raised and what her views are on divorce
2. Ask girl on date what her debt loads are like, current and forecasted over the next 30+ years
3. Decide on next steps

westopher 12-19-2025 11:59 AM

“Can I see your wealthsimple account quickly before we take this to the 20 questions part of the date. Hold on just going to get on a quick FaceTime with my mentor.”

Okay, thanks this was really productive.

Let's take an action to get the projections in by the next sync.

I'll send out notes laying out next steps and I'll be reaching out to circle back.

With the way ICE is running things, he might still get deported, LOL

Weird I get the vibe bcdukes isn’t married from this thread… but I literally went to his wedding

congrats, you're now taxed on worldwide income for life unless you renounce.

RabidRat 12-19-2025 12:46 PM

You get a tax credit from CRA for whatever you had to pay to the IRS. It's just annoying to have to complete two separate tax returns and make them reconcile.

I forgot where we landed with the Canada Post strike (beyond the fact the union needs to give it up cause they are on the losing end here) but colour me impressed that the Xmas cards I sent out on Wednesday afternoon starting landing in people's mailboxes yesterday (in under 24 hours). All for the lowly cost of $1.51.

The stuff going to Calgary, Toronto and Ottawa will probably start landing today or Monday. (Edit: Toronto peeps are reporting they are getting the cards now so 48 hours for that).

While I don't think sending a letter/card should cost much the fact that I can pretty much send it anywhere in Canada in 2-3 days is really impressive and I'd pay $2-3 for that.

Anyone have experience with the Pirelli P Zero AS PLUS 3 ELECT tires? Tire Rack has them highly rated.

I guess I lucked out with my midget. 18 years and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Shes got a million problems but so do I. We fight all the time but never serious. We make a great team as she fixes my numerous deficiencies while I can reach things in tall cupboards (so useful!).

Ah what can ya do. Once you’re over 40 you just want stability and peace. As much as I want to anal some hot blonde, I much rather stay at home and gawk at the midget trying to reach for tall things. Often with hilarious consequences.

The boxing world cheers on Friday night!

As I expected, former two time heavyweight world champ Anthony Joshua destroys YouTube Boxer Jake Paul.

Sixth round knockout for Joshua!

Joshua controlled the match. Disney boy Jake Paul was running around the ropes for his life last night haha.

According to Jake, Joshua broke his jaw in two places during the fight. LUL

you think Joshua was still holding back ... giving the fans a bit of value for their $$? And not like taking him out in 2nd round?

This is first fight that is not contractually pre-determined to Paul's side?

MarkyMark 12-20-2025 10:01 AM

He was probably being cautious and letting Jake tire himself out running away the whole time. He threw some big punches that didn't land so I don't think he was taking it easy on him, just hard to hit Paul when he was backing up most of the fight.

Over the last couple months they've saved me $150 CAD and $200 USD on two packages, and delivered one a day earlier than expected, so I'm pretty happy lol.

Look at Anthony Joshua smiling after his left uppercut on Paul haha.

He was setting himself up for a knockout punch!

Boom!

He was definitely holding back. I caught him a few times pulling his punches that could easily have been landed when Paul was flopping about.

He was like a cat playing with his prey, he could've easily finished him by the third round.
