speaking of updates. if you use Blink cam, don't update the app, they removed the download feature from the app and moved it to their subscription service. a friend still can download videos through the app as they did not update the app. |

HMV, and before that it was the Virgin Megastore! |
So annas archive who downloaded all of spotify is backed by AI tech bro's. They use the site to get training data. get ready for new and improved AI music generators. |
You know what's crazy, is that at work our director asked everyone to try to see if we could create AI tools to do our jobs faster and better. And then present our findings. A whole bunch of coworkers have been tripping over themselves to come up with ways to show how they were able to do this the best. You should've seen their presentations. They were beside themselves with joy demoing what would've taken them weeks that could now be done instantly. To each of these, our director goes "that's great!! We're building the world's best [x, y, z] engineer!!" Fml we've been told to kill ourselves and these people are gleefully rushing to dig the graves, pushing and shoving to demonstrate who could do it best :lol |
Yes totally stupid that tech is creating AI so it can replace huuumons who created AI. I blame that zuck fuck and all the other geniuses that pursued this trash. Besides the Gemini home assistant right now, I still haven’t seen AI help me. How many billions have we spent so far and not even good Ai porn ? |
So it looks like the future is the trades ... if AI can replace 75% of the programming, office, desk jobs. Only damn thing AI can't do it put a hammer, nail, wiring, plumbing, or paint. |

i can't speak on generative AI since i'm not a creative mind. AI can be a useful tool, but it will not (at least for the foreseeable future) be used for decision making. the problem i see is that it will/can eliminate junior/entry level jobs, decimating the traditional workforce. intermediate/senior/manager engineers are needed to make decisions and eventually they will age out and retire. generally the junior engineers cut their teeth as cheap labour and pay their dues, but if AI replaces those roles, how do you backfill these above intermediate+ roles when they retire? in private with the race to the bottom i don't think there are a lot of companies building the industry and backfilling as being short sighted & chasing profit margins is probably what most are doing. will be interesting times for sure. i think a good portion of us are experienced/educated, and at least can give career advice to our kids on how to best proceed & navigate certain careers (eg if kids want to do com sci or get in to tech, what we would warn them or advice on how to move) |
F the kids. Let me keep my own job first LOL. I don't know what job someone can say "oh yeah, AI took care of that". Not sure if it's actually happening. Maybe medical translation / note taking services? But in the health care, they are going to have to make private AI servers which will already take another 10 years to get it approved. |
The problem with this AI bubble is that it is a self-fulfilling prophesy. The stocks of so many companies right now are being propped up under the guise that their workforce will essentially be decimated by AI, improving productivity. If those expected gains aren't realized by AI, those expected gains/valuations will all tumble, which also leads to people losing their jobs. It's a lose/lose scenario of sorts. The mouth eats the tail. |
Anyone cross the new Riverview (twin to Patullo) bridge? Apparently opened one way today. |
Hopefully they keep it that way *kidding!* |
All the folks that cross into Surrey are never seen again. One way bridge money well spent. |
Time to try it outhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c6b861d585.jpg Sent from my CPH2655 using Tapatalk |
It was confusing as hell. As you enter Patullo bridge, there's a single lane that says EXIT far right lane for the new bridge, original Pattullo route is still active - so 3 lanes NB. And then as you exit it, somehow merges directly onto E Columbia, skipping the normal route of splitting off at Royal Ave or McBride for a left turn to E Columbia. Idk where the normal Columbia st, straight through traffic, is currently - does it still exist? According to Google Maps, it looks like the exits should eventually follow the original split of McBride -> E Columbia / Royal Ave. |
Yah, apparently, if you take Riverview bridge, you're going toward New West, no exit towards Burnaby (westbound). |
It’s Boxing Day: you toys find any good deals ?!?!? Used to be we lined up at a&b sound or future shop. Nowadays there isn’t much door buster stuff. |
Screw AI. DDR5, DDR4 RAM for computers are insanely expensive now. I was thinking of buying some RAM until I saw the prices. |
Aye. I wanted to buy some fast sdhc memory cards for my camera but was appalled at the prices. 128gb card is 150 bucks ?!?!? |

London Drugs also has all board games for 40% off, so I bought a couple modern-era games to play with the kids. |
Does that settlers of catan ever go on sale ? It seems to be an interesting game but it might be too challenging for my wife and her retard friend to grasp the fundamentals. |
Do you want some wood? |
