Wait but energy, didn't you do commerce for undergrad as well?

Energy 03-31-2012 02:42 PM

Lol nope I'm in arts. Majoring in econ but I'm doing my minor in commerce. Marketing was super fun haha. More commerce people should do it but they all go for accounting or finance.

instantneedles 03-31-2012 11:24 PM

Even more props to you for getting into law school with an econ major... One of my cousins graduated with an econ major and he now farts on his chair in front of a computer at home all day long doing nothing :rukidding:

You definitely didn't need an economics grad/PhD to tell you the economy was in the shitter in 2008/2009 :troll:

i mean, instandneedles cousins could have just applied for other jobs instead of just sitting at home.

I'm sure he can find something descent even if its not related to economics.

Economics is way too general and all theory. And you really need a graduate degree in economics in order to become an economist. But it does teach you analytical thinking and you'll definitely understand the world and the economy more. Some of my friends who are graduating with me have jobs lined up already, most of them in business doing all sorts of random stuff. Others are going to graduate school or doing the diploma in accounting etc. But most haven't even started looking or still don't know what they want to do. Its really up to the person if they are motivated enough to get off their asses and figure something out :rukidding:

Go slow and angle your car? My car is quite low even in stock form though lol.

Oh and :fuckyea: this thread is alive! UBC threads usually die but maybe we can keep this one going.

Well, the thing is that he thinks his econ major will get him top notch financial/accounting jobs right on the spot. He's not willing to settle for more entry level positions (bank teller, sales rep, etc) because he cant let his pride down being in his late 20's (which imo, isnt really that old for him to start being picky over his jobs).

Energy 04-01-2012 08:58 AM

^ He must be dreaming lol. He is not going to get those kinds of jobs with an economics major and that's reality.

He should start at a bank as a CSR and work his way up. The stuff he learnt in econ isn't really applicable to those kinds of jobs.

would you guys agree that UBC is a superior university than SFU?

Energy 04-01-2012 09:52 AM

Lets not start a flame war.

You post this in a UBC thread, and you think another option besides 'yes' actually exists? :accepted:

Going through his previous posts it seems like the latter.

No one replied me from the other ubc thread, so i'l just ask here.

Has anyone taking greek and roman mythology CLST 105 or should I just take phil120 with burkeholder instead?

Thanks

Energy 04-01-2012 06:10 PM

Sorry, I can't comment on those courses... maybe someone else knows.

kcl38 04-01-2012 07:41 PM

Anyone know about the best options for parking in the summer? I have class from 9:00-12:30 twice a week for summer term

Energy 04-01-2012 07:48 PM

The open parking lots on Agronomy near the Starbucks if you only have class twice a week.

I actually parked in front of the bookstore without paying for the whole summer and only got caught on the last day of classes.

bookstore parking is the heatiest parking in the whole ubc. you are better off parking behind the music building which i did for the whole summer and got ticketed only once.

another hidden place to park is behind the anthro/soci building on northwest marine drive across from rose garden. I parked there alot and havent been caught.

lets keep this thread alive ! :accepted:

i've taken phil 120. Its easy but annoying since u gota go to the lab to do the quizes which are timed. No midterms or papers or finals tho. All quizes (10 or something)

My class is at the FNH building so its pretty central..and close to book store parking. :heckno:

instantneedles 04-01-2012 08:46 PM

If you're looking for a gpa booster, definetly go for phil 120.

And go park at bookstore and don't pay, cus honestly, i'd take the risk of getting ticketed maybe at most twice in the semester, then paying the hefty parking fees.
