anyone here ever get results with the traditional 3 day body part split?
Been trying a variation of PHAT but i hate doing bench and OHP on the same day
So many people talk shit about the traditional splits now that I'm kinda scared of going back and not getting any gains at all lol

i personally feel that dedicating an entire day to a muscle group is a waste of time.

a muscle group doesn't take a full fucking week to recover

it's debatable though, some guys stick to it and can still get pretty good results.

i just feel that if you miss out on a day during the week, you end up not training that bodypart for 2 weeks at a time

what exactly is the rationale behind training a certain muscle group twice a week? Say i do 20 sets of bench on one day vs doing 5 heavy sets on mon and 15 light sets on wed.. Is there a different in how it actually affects the muscle beside the fact that you're more "fresh" when you split it up?

Well when you bench, you're using a combo of muscles at a time. Pretty much impossible to train chest without training shoulders and tri's at the same time.

Rest is the key word, you wanna be able to rest the muscle enough so that it can continue its next workout full throttle.. If you're compressing all sets into one day, fatigue is gonna kick in - and at that point it becomes more of a test of endurance

Its why training compound lifts pack on the most size in your body because they target ALOT of muscles at once and also the biggest muscles in the body.

you can use it for all three, but personally i wouldn't use it for deadlifts. Reason being you'll have a better transfer over with squats to deadlifts than deadlifts to squats.

Good luck and have fun if your doing it!

there is literally no rationale behind that, its bro science. there is no set amount of training for everyone that is "overtraining"

on the extreme hand you have olympic lifters who lift twice a day 6 time a week, with each workout consisting of working up to 1rm, heavy squats pull and presses.

obviously for the average person this is insane, but you can still have some idea what your body is capable of if you push yourself.

my believe is that you should squat heavy no less than 2-3x a week, same with bench (or ohp depending on what you're focusing)

Sid what program would you recommend that allows me to OHP AND squat 2-3 times a week? I looked into your Richmond Method but not too sure if it would be suitable for me as I have never really tried any max strength-based programs before.

I meant routines like PHAT where you train the muscles 2x a week vs a traditional "bro split". Is it all bro science?
