Horrible game for Lin. 6/16 shooting, 6 turnovers, and only 5 assists....Meanwhile, Rondo had a historic game with 18 points, 17 rebounds, and 20 assists...
saw pierce with some time to set his legs i'm like fffffuuuuuuuuuuck he's making that 3
knicks needed that win to catch up to boston too
just think, if what's his face didn't get the technical after that dunk and stare KG down, they coulda won that game. i never understood why guys can't be smarter and control their emotions or egos and get T-d up. that 1 point can cost games sometimes.
NBA's been trying to strain out the street/hip-hop culture from their game for some time now, starting with the dress code for injured players sitting on the bench
Quote:
Many NBA and non-NBA sports figures also claim that it targets young black males and is a slap against hip-hop culture which the NBA also exploits to its benefit when it suits them

david stern wants the NBA to be viewed as a sport with a little more class, and less affiliated with its street-ball, black neighbourhood, ghetto roots... hence the strict no taunting, no trash talk rules
kinda racist imo, but i can see where they're coming from

Honestly, if they want to change the dress code and whatnot, that's great, I don't care...but don't change the game to make it so there is no trash talk...50% of sports is mental, and by restricting players from doing certain things as such, it prevents players from getting into their opponents heads, and that can have a huge effect on the outcome of the game....and some of that shit is simply done in the heat of the moment...You make a huge block or throw down a huge dunk, you want to make some noise while doing so to pump up your team and it's honestly just a reflex; you can't prevent it from happening by throwing out technicals...
Ever since what? three seasons ago? They started calling a shitload more technicals...One could argue both sides of the coin.. but I do agree, I miss the days before officials became so anal
QFT!
What's wrong with showing emotion to pump up your team or demoralize the other team?
That's how you build historic rivalries, and gets the crowd into it too. You have players that try to get under the other teams skin to throw them off their game (think Burrows/Kesler/Lapierre on the Canucks), it's all part of the strategy. You get your team hyped up and you could go on a 10-0 run when everyone is clicking, or you get the ball slammed down your throat by trying to block Blake Griffin and he laughs at you. Then you no longer have the confidence to try and block his next attempt again, giving him an easy basket. Vice versa if Mutombo blocks your feeble layup attempt into the 20th row then finger wags your ass, guaranteed you won't be driving into the paint at him for the next little while ... All part of the game...
You want to watch people versing each other with no emotion? Watch Chess.
Woah chess is full of emotions!!! Take that back now!! I can understand a lil scream at someone after u posterize em etc etc, a lil finger wag can actually piss someone off and start a fat fight Posted via RS Mobile

I posted this a while back from a few pages ago, hate to say it but I knew this would happen. Once Lin faces some premier defenders like Rondo he got shut down.

Devin Harris - Shell of his former self
John Wall - He got owned by Lin even in the Summer leagues so anyone could have seen this coming, plus his defense is atrocious!
Derek Fisher - WAY too old to do anything now ... I don't even know why they still have him around ... only cuz he's Kobe's buddy?
Rubio - All flash and fancy plays, no defense.
Calderon - Never known for defense.
The game before that, although a SMALL sample size because he was still relegated to backup and only played 7 minutes, but he was shutdown by Rondo, 0-3 from the field, 2 points, 1 assist.
I want to see what he can do against the ELITE defenders before truly seeing what he is worth. I want to see him face Rondo again head to head, or Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Westbrook ... especially interested in seeing how he can adjust his strategy playing against Orlando with super blocker Dwight in the paint at all times. I doubt he will be able to drive like he does against Dwight like he did to the Nets who have Kris freakin' Humphries guarding the rim lol ...
Jeremy got blanketed by the Heat too and struggled, but to be fair anyone that's being hounded by Lebron and Wade are gonna be in for a tough night.

I don't think it really comes to a surprise to anybody who truly follows and understands the game; he's going to have his games in which he struggles mightily, however, he still needs to find other ways to remain effective and D'Antoni's system will allow point guards to do so. You have to keep in mind that he really is only a rookie, and rookies that are given the keys right away will struggle mightily in both the fg% and the turnover categories.
He had a solid game tonight. Though his shooting percentages were quite poor, he did manage to dish out 7 dimes while only turning the ball over twice.
It seems as though there was a little bit of miscommunication when you were being taught the English language.
They totally missed Chandler today, pretty much their only wall of defense in the paint. Knicks aren't that great of a rebounding team either, they got mauled with out him rofl, 15+ offensive rebounds + that brutal one at the end, and the guards literally just cuttin right to the rim
Many of us here, including myself, were wrong about Anthony's ability to co-exist with Lin. Melo thinks he's the team leader, and pulled that act last year when he arrived and started preaching that everybody needed to play defense, but the problem is that his body of work is the play of a me-first loser. Adding J.R. Smith and Baron Davis to the mix just puts fuel on this fire. The team awkwardly defers to Anthony on offense, and suffers greatly due to his defense.
