Groucho in front, Dusty in the back... Rebound, one-eyed chihuahua we're fostering, in the middle. Rebound goes to his forever home later this week :tears:

Just lost my cat. Found her abandoned on the streets when she was young and ill. (The amount of strays in Bangkok is absolutely insane.) Gave her a home and happy short life. She loved being on the balcony and up high like most cats as she got older.. She fell from the 7th floor. I took her to temple and monks cremated her. RIP Akira

7th storey, that's brutal :(

Ironically, the cat has a higher chance of survival once it gets past the 8th store... And of course everything below... 7th is the worst floor to live on if you have cats

Poor thing. Sorry to hear.

Skinny, what's the deal? I'm not picking up what your putting down.

Based on a study of cats taken to the vet after falling from tall building in NY, the cats had worse injuries going from the 1st to 6th floors.. but once it reached 8th floor and higher, the severity of the injuries actually started going down

Possibilities are that the cat can create drag if given enough time once it hits terminal velocity.. if it falls from 6th or 7th floor, it is just hitting terminal velocity when it lands. But if it falls from a higher distance, it is actually able to slow itself down by facing down and spreading its legs to create drag....

It is also possible that the study is flawed, since if a cat dies from a fall, it won't be taken to the vet at all.. this obviously throws off the numbers...

But does that ONE extra floor really allow enough time for the cat to slow down enough?

This is just the averages... 6th or 7th floor seems to be the worst... 8th floor and up, the cat may sustain lighter injuries compared to 6 or 7

Aww shit man. I have had a rough day at work and while letting my car warm up this actually brought a few tears to my eyes. We've always buried our past animals in our family yard. The cremation was very sweet and loving.
